I have excess weight that I want to temporarily offload. In the past I have just pointed excess weight to forums.digitalpoint.com but when we tried to do this last week the ad was rejected and a comment along the lines of "You don't want to push Shawn" which I got a nice chuckle out of So, I'm pointing some excess weight to yahoo.com now ... is there a "proper" way to deal with excess weight?
I never really thought about it... usually people *want* weight. If it's all the weight on an account, you could just disable all the ads on that account.
yeah i usually want weight ... but i just had someone go through and clean up and organize a bunch of my stuff and it turns out i have some excess for a very short timeframe... for example, an account might have 50k weight and just to try to kepp things organized i put 10 sites in there and want to start them at 1k weight each and over the next 4-8 weeks maybe i increase them to eventually eat up the full 50k weight. in the meantime i just need some other link that i use to dump the excess. using something like yahoo or dp works fine for me but i just wanted to confirm there wasn't a more correct way to handle it. not dumb at all ... but funny
It's possible to have too much weight. Last thing we want to do is Google Bowl a site out of Google from too many links. I just about paniced when the last PR update gave me an extra 324,447 of weight...then I moved all that to another account. One nice option would be to be able to pick how much of the weight we want to use. For example, if you got 100,000 of weight, and only want to use 25,000 of the weight, being able to only use only that weight would help. Just 3,000 of weight is more than enough to get a new site indexed by the search engines!! Tip for extra weight: Link to your co-op refer URL.
That has nothing to do with the % of the weight that will go to an ad, if you only have one ad. That's just so you can give more weight to one ad when you have more than one ad. Have just one ad and it doesn't mater what number you give it, it'll get 100% of the weight there.
Exactly. As long as we can change it any time. For example, we want to use just 10K of the weight. Then a month later we make more ads and want to use 20K of weight, and so on.
How do you guys figure what number is too much? I have around 28k in weight with around 20+ ads going to the same site (so a little more than 1k per ad). Is that too much? The last PR update bumped me from around 1k to 28k so you would that is good but now I am worried I could bowl myself right out of the SERPS. Any idea?
