Does anyone here use the NVU page editor? From a newbie's point of view, which is easier to use and learn using, NVU or Dreamweaver? Also, does NVU give me clean codes? Will a site built with NVU pass W3C validation? If there will be errors, can I correct them using NVU? Advice most appreciated here. Thanks!
It's better you open a notepad and start coding from there if you want to turn out a good web designer.
If U have or interested in Dreamweaver Then go for it is the only software which will show the code and desgin at once as I use it It is good for Me
Don't go for DreamWeaver, it's an expensive pile of crap. The code it produces will not be "clean". Its also unlikely that the code will pass the validator (but it may...) IMHO both pieces of software are equally easy to use, however I choose to use a text editor, so I wouldn't let ease of use sway you either way. It is also unlikely that the code produced by NVU will be "clean" or valid, its unlikely that anything produced by a computer will have these characteristics. Any errors that are thrown up by the validator will always be clearly explained, and a trip to the code view of NVU will allow you to fix them with ease (usually)...
I don't think any software will give your superb perfect W3C compliant code each time. I used to use NVU when I was starting out but I ended up copy and pasting it to notepad and doing mass amounts of editing. I've used dreamweaver and basically did the same thing.
Okay, guys, thanks for all the generous response to my query! It looks like the opinion favors hand-coding for the best results. But, with no (translation: zero) coding background/training like me, how long would it take for me learn hand coding? The idea kind of scares me but I could give it a try.
