Why slavery is OK. There are millions of slaves, worked, bought, and traded each day.

    Back on topic.

There are more slaves today than ever before but yet, no public outcry. Why is slavery viewed different in the 1700's than it is today?

Where. While i am not a stickler for proof, where's the proof for this.

There are way less slaves than ever before.

No public outcry because there are a host of ills worldwide, the slavery you speak of being one. I am still having trouble with the point of your thread.

Are you trying to bring attention to world slavery, and asking for a larger public outcry?

Are you sincerely asking if slavery is "o.k.?" In your words, among others, "Is it wrong to do this or fair business practices."

    ***

I would remind you that you have accused me of attacking you daily, and absent proof, you have, in a word, slandered me. No guys with briefcases will soon be showing up at your door, but you should know such a wanton accusation isn't nice. :D

Dude quit it man... leave me alone. Quit this crap. Move On. You know you attack me. If you want examples go through your own threads. I don't have time for it. Go back and read some of your post. Attack if you want but stay on topic.
Here is where I got that statement. Modern-Day Abolitionists

I am looking for more estimates on the net. I believe the slaves are mostly children.

Homebiz - I was being a bit lighter than actually warranted, given your public statement:

But let's understand something, particularly since you have reiterated again that "I attack you:" I will say it again - you need to show me where. You have made the accusation, we have virtually no history together, I "attack you daily," yet you can't seem to find any proof?

Comical, actually. Not surprising, given what I've seen lately, but comical nonetheless. I will have to just save the following in my notebook, I guess, for reprinting purposes:

Now, I did put two questions to you:

Yes, I am trying to bring attention to the fact that slavery exist on a large scale, yet it draws no attention. Slavery is a big moral issue. Who gives anyone the right to own someone? It's accepted in the bible but yet I find it wrong.

IMHO there is no place for slavery in modern civic society. The millions of slaves the OP mentioned are illegal trade of slaves. In no modern society would slavery be condoned. In many parts of the world where slavery still occurred, it is mainly due to corruption and the lack of enforcement of the legal units involved and in no way society's acceptance of slavery.

Even in China, when there was charges of slavery earlier this year, there was an huge outcry by society and the actions were swiftly taken to arrest those perpetrators of slavery.

Why slavery is OK, my answer is, it is not OK, it has not been OK for a long long time.

There are millions of slaves........as I mentioned above, these are due to imperfections in the legal system rather than society's acceptance of slavery.

They said "by some estimates, there are more slaves today than ever before".
It's like saying, some people think that elvis is still alive. Different estimates vary and some estimates may be wrong.

You quoted only "there are more slaves today than ever before". Which made it seem like a proven fact.
There is slavery, but it is much less widespread, numerous and accepted these days.

If I can find solid stats I will list it. I was appalled when I saw the story on the evening news. I had no idea it existed except in the sex trade. They interviewed a slave owner and the owner seemed proud.

There's a big difference between attacking something you wrote or a point you made and attacking YOU. You shouldn't accuse people of that since personal attacks are banable offenses. You accused me of the same thing the other day which sort of pissed me off because I go out of my way to make sure I don't write things that could be interpreted as personal attacks and I don't even really directly respond to personal attacks against me because that is a way to get into a tit for tat.

Also in some of the rich middle eastern countries, domestic workers are sometimes abused and treated like slaves.

Thank you, Logic, for a good post. Which, I hope, reflects my thought respecting the accusations of "personal attacks." I do try to stay away from personal slams, but I will respond with all that I know, if I am in disagreement with the post or argument made. And after witnessing one member actually seeking (and not succeeding, obviously) to secure my banning over my alleged "campaign" of "personal attacks," it does get old, to be honest.

Is there an outcry in those countries or is it OK? Do you have any links?

That scenario is just gross. Poor kid, supposedly his in the school and learning new things about everything to prepare for his future. I'm reading history and back then US have a slavery policy that the black skin people
are considered slave. But look at the black right now, they were idolized
    by many.

Do you think it applies only to America? I think the scenario is pretty much the same in a lot of democratic countries around the world.

Thanks for making my point. We're all slaves.

So the question is, who is the slave master?

Who profits from the big government programs, the taxes, inflation and war?

Because without a doubt, there is a profit, a transfer of wealth from the poor and middle class up the ladder, and all of the bleeding heart liberals think the answer is to tax the rich, when in reality, the answer to their socialist utopia is end war, end deficit spending and return to a sound money that cannot be counterfeited by the government printing presses.

Then you will see the poor rise and the middle class thrive.

Still, the question remains. Who has enslaved us?

Is it the shape-shifting reptilian aliens again?

I'm surprised that you carry on living in a place where you believe you are a slave. Do you know how easy it is to pack your bag and live somewhere else?

You are, certainly. In fact, I doubt a less-free person exists anywhere in the world.
