    How can I set users that register to my blog as authors?

    I don't see anywhere to set that in the admin aera.

    Go to wp-admin -> settings -> general tab:
    Set default user to: Author.

    Done.

    I mostly have that set up. But I'm not giving them the Author status, I'm giving the Contributor status. Maybe there's no difference... I don't know...
