Instead of asking them to remove your article, why not simply ask them for a backlink to your site acknowledging you as the author.... I think they're much more likely to respond to this, and you'll probably get more benefit out of it, especially if they're a high ranking site...

Most of the sites which copy content works automatically by extracting rss feeds..
So add the site's name and copyright details in rss feeds

And to prove that u are the original owner..use google cache...i.e, search for ur post in google search and click
    Cached

then u can see when google first cached ur page...AFAIK this is strong proof to show that u had posted the article before that duplicate site

It will happen many many times. A scraper site will get all the content it can.

    NO they won't.

They won't give you a link back or anything. They just ignore you.

That's what pisses me off.

run a quick whois on the website and note down their hosting
Then go to that hosting company and fill up an abuse or support email(ticket)
U can provide the proof of google cache as explained by me in the previous post
They will surely respond and might take down that site

And BTW here is a nice article about content thieft
What should you do when you’ve found a content thief?

Where exactly should we report them? In Google Webmaster tools?

BTW, it seems they are using their own dedicated server, so they got that part covered...

To beat the dupe content just build more backlinks than the site with the same content.

    Thanks all

I think that backlink is the best solution for it. It will help us to improve our PR nad Rank also.

I will tell them to place my link with proper anchor text.

It will also improve my serp ranking.

Google notices everything. You was the first one who have published that article - so you are the owner of content for Google. Don't worry about it.

How google will recognise that i am the first who place the content....

google is not checking website manually.......its a sotware that checks the website.

Copy scape is not the best option as after placing a link same thingh will happen.........
