Google SERPs with .INFO domains?

Discussion in 'Google' started by canam, Jul 3, 2008.

I know it has always been thought that the domain suffix makes zero difference with google, but I think that has not held true for some suffixes maybe, and I am wondering if .info is treated completely the same as .com by google, or if there is a tiny bit more scrutiny on .info's by the google algorithm?

and if you believe it is not the case today, what about in the coming year?

any comments welcome, is .info the same as .com in google's eyes???

Google does not care about the tld (extension) it makes no difference whatsoever and it never will. What matters are Content and backlinks. (not necessarily quantity, but quality)

Its not true that .info domains have less SERP.
There are many .info domains with good SERP

While it's true that Google doesn't care about the TLD unless it's a country specific TLD, it's also true that recently there was a shakeup in the Google index and a lot of .info domains were taken off the index. That could just be due to the fact that a majority of these domain are junk anyways. But it could just as easily be a hint of things to come ..

I believe that it was because of the content and backlinking strategies. While I am firm in my statement that tld does not matter we all know that there are a great many .info sites that are just crap.

I have several .infos that are doing well and increasing in traffic and SERPs all the time, but they are all unique content sites.

Domain TLDs do not matter. If they did , it would be kinda "unfair".

Anyhow -> its not the outside that count, its the inside :D (Outside = domain, Inside = content)

I have recently knocked some very established .Com's out of their 6 year+ position using a .info

So either I would have knocked them down waaay further, or in my opinion, they disregard the TLD.

As long as you have relevant, authoritative links, and unique content, you could even been on a free angel fire type hosting and rank #1. (seen that before too).

Rightly said, But I remember there was a thread on DP sometime back where in people complained that their .info domains had gone down on listings , but they were back in a few days.

That shankeup involved .blogspot blogs also ..... so does that mean google don't like its own service also? IMO that was some kind of mistake which just added more to .info rumour.

Googles just looks at the Quality of posts, and links to the site
it never cares about TLD or Subdomains or cheap domains like .Info etc

Even if you are on .INFO subdomain u have same exposure as other, just start link building.

I know absolutely for sure and so does everyone else who is informed about the subject. Bootom line - tld does not matter. A website is "judged" based upon it's contents and backlinks.

Personally I've seen before .info domains ranked higher than some of the .com. It really depends how you carry out your SEO and that is also influenced by the keywords that you use.

I know that Google don't pay any attention on domain name, but Google likes when you have links and gadjets from Google, as I heared.

I think SERPs don't have any point on last extension . Main thing is what you publish on domain name . If you have published a best content , people will find you , you will get back links also related to same niche which works in SERPs as well as in PR .

I agree with kentucky and all the others that say the extension does not
    matter with the SEs algorithm.

However, if a site has been reported for spam, the Google reviewer might be
slightly biased when he first sees that another .info has been reported.
