    Hi all,

When you produce articles for marketing your site will Google have any problems with duplicate content if they are submitted to multiple article sites. Will this have any affect on the site that you are actually marketing.

Just about to get my first Page Rank (I think) and don't want to upset Google just before the review doing the above.

Also do you get any benefit from becoming the top article author in your field on Ezine?

P.S. My site is www.soccerengine.net give me a shout if you are interested in link exchange.

    Thank you all.

You need to re-write each article.

I've had this discussion with forum mods (not dp) in the past when I've tried to link to a new article I've created.

They usually ask me why I don't just post the information in the forum. I politely tell them to get lost.

If it were possible to just paste it there without penalty it wouldn't be a problem but with these duplicate content filters you could end up hurting yourself as it may be your site, with the original content, that could get google slapped!

So yeah, rewrite a couple of lines then link to the rest of the article on your website.

If the article is unique and placed on a good blog then incontent links are very good for your site ranking .
There are a lot of benifits of article writing .. content creation has no boundries !!

If it did effect your website in a bad way, couldnt i write an article submit to multiple article sites but put in my competitors website link and this would effectively lower this sites rankings!

So tbh i dont think it will!

Google are quite clever, you know!

The question was not about it affecting your site in a bad way, it was about duplicate content. Yes, duplicate content is duplicate content - doesnt matter if it appears on a blog, a regular site or an article directory.

Duplicate content would necessarily harm a website, but it will not help it as far as the SEs go. There is a difference between 'harm' and 'no help'

Changing the first paragraph usually helps. I've seen good results by this method and just takes 2-3 mins to create a reworded paragraph. And if you are not too concerned about readers, you could just spin one with some content spinner ..

Google (or other SEs) sees duplicate content as duplicate content plain and simple.

But I will say - If you want to help your SERPs you need unique content and not duplication.

No, it was about duplicate content harming a site he's trying to market.

Whichever way you want to twist it, posting your article word for word to directories may harm the site you're trying to market. Why risk it?

I think we're all pretty much agreed on that point.

The duplicate content will not harm your PR. If that were the case then we could damage our competitors by posting duplicated articles with links to their sites.
