    For all of you out there who keep saying no no no to Flash websites (I am one of them) Google announced that they can crawl Flash-based sites.

    For the SEO mob, we can now be ok (even though I don't know if I like it) with our clients asking for flashy sites.

    For all those Flash Developers out there... your world is only getting better.

    Yeah, they could’ve crawled flash based websites long time. Did you ever see those celebs sites with hardly any text content?

    Remember that Google's algorithm was built around backlinks... lots of links pointing to the Celebs.

    Non-flash websites will still be prefered for a very long time. Flash has yet to become a fully capable alternative.

    And by the way, Google has been able to crawl Flash-based websites for few years already. That's not really news. This will just make it easier to crawl those sites but other issues are yet to be solved.

    Media environment is growing, usually people would like to watch an article instead of reading the whole boring paragraph. Google might be adjusting to this scenario.

    just "being able to crawl & index" is not the same as ranking well. far from it.

    google crawls and indexes millions of HTML sites that dont rank too well either.

    plus if the flash is triggered by javascript, they still wont be indexing it.

    flash will be obsolete before it ever ranks well IMO

    Advanced image processing and voice recognition.
    These technologies already exist but probably not practical for google yet.

    Static Websites will still be the standard as the trend for sites is to go moblie not to become more flashy. Flash is great for alot of things, but it is still best used as a component of a static website.
