New domain scam techinque - stay alert!

    I have never had anyone ask for an appraisal, but I guess it would be like buying non-virtual real estate, buyer pays for it.

    That old appraisal scam. :D

    But you can tell them that you are yourself a domainer and know what price your domain name is. As long as it is in your control you are the one who will decide the price. Not any third party appraisal.

    This is very common. I used to get such emails quite often. It's appreisal scam and it happens a lot.

    Good to bring it up, to warn people that don't know yet.

    I've been getting these for years, they just want your appraisal money. It's the same idea as those stupid Nigerian bank scams only on a much smaller scale - trying to dazzle greedy idiots with promises of large sums of money, when all they really wanted all along is the smaller amount of money they ask for upfront x a few thousand people.
