Yahoo shoots up domain reg fee by over 200%

    Well, it's probably crazy to the arguably average, ignorant user who doesn't
    care how or why the price change. But...it's not necessarily crazy to those
    who know (or care to know) that providers who charge less than what they
    are really paying for are losing money.

    Yahoo probably reached their threshold and finally decided to raise their fees.
    That's their right and privilege, just like everyone else.

    Then again, Yahoo is a reseller for a registrar. Just go with the latter. ;)

    You can still reg domains at Yahoo for $1.99 for the 1st year, I don't know what it is beyond that but you could reg it through Yahoo for $1.99 wait 60 days and then transfer it to a company w/ cheap transfers, GoDaddy, Xoobia, which both currently charge under $7. In this scenario you would get 2 years of registration for under $9.

    i registered a domain before via yahoo, luckily the site was sold.
    absolutely i will not try yahoo anymore,
    the control panel is terrible and not user friendly,
    you might get support reply for up to 3 days... :(

    Nerver tried register with Yahoo. I remembers that Yahoo special price are open for USA residents only.

    I've never been willing to try the 1.99 Yahoo deal. Something tells me there is a reason its so cheap and it could be a pain down the road. raising the price is just silly and I'm sure alot of people are going to get upset in that second year.
