Well said - if you act like a 2 year old, you'll be treated like a 2 year old even if you're 50.

    Have some rep!

On age? Because they're further away from the undesirable ends of the age spectrum. Middle lifers, for good reasons, spend less time worrying about age than people at the start of life or people towards the end of life. Have you never heard of the mid-age crisis? Or teenage angst?

Well, I don't take websites seriously if they're owned by people fairly younger than I am. I'm 20, so if someone who is 18 started a site, I mightn't take it too seriously.
I've seen sites started by 15 year olds, and it makes me angry.

I think 18 is my limit. If someone is younger than 18, I'll take a business or site they start seriously (or, mostly seriously).
But there are some pretty stupid 30 year olds out there who've started shitty sites and shitty businesses.

So it matters, but its not the be-all and end-all.

In my opinion, age is just a number. When you go out and make money online, age doesn't matter at all. In today's society it's all about having a dream and a vision for a business and having the maturity to go through with it. Look at the college students that started Google in the back of a van. Youtube was created by college students in a garage. milliondollarhomepage.com was created by a young guy before he even went off to college. The creator of Face Book is now only 22 years old. Everyone can have their own opinion, but I think that age is just a number and all you need to start a business is a dream, dedication, and maturity. I think it's great when someone as young as 16 makes millions on the web, because he is going to be such great asset to our society later on when he has even more experience.

Age is just a number to me also. I was running a few little side businesses when I was in middle school. I'm 25 now, and have 2 successful companies. Opened a car wash detailing business when I was 19 and then when I hit 24, I started a foreclosure prevention company. Being business minded stems from the roots when you were a child. It has nothing to do with your age. Being 25 now, I have over 260 reps working for me nationwide and a few inhouse employees. 90% of them are definitely older than me, and can't tell that I'm still a youngin. I also run a successful advertising company. Age isn't anything. If I see someone who is 15 producing high quality websites and earning money from them, then more power to them. I like to see young kids especially that age earning some income for themselves. In my opinion, corporate world just sucks ass now. The quicker you figure out how to make money on your own, then you can just chill and relax the latter part of your life.

Well, in that case I'm not gonna argue with you about being mature or not. But what is the problem with immature making money online?

Well, I don't think age really matters. Maybe maturity and experience though. I'm actually still a teenager, but I don't find myself acting immature over the internet. I didn't even originally make my site for money. Although, if I was looking for money, I wouldn't have an arcade site.

    That's pretty ignorant.

Why does it make you angry when 15 year olds create websites?

I judge a person by how they communicate, their maturity, what I think of them as a person, what their talents are... age is a concern, but definitely not a deciding factor.

    My thoughts exactly.

Age certainly hasn't mattered to me. I'm 65 now and didn't begin to learn webmastering until after age 60. I studied a lot, read through the forum to pick up tips, went through lots of trial and error, and finally came up with a website (nonprofit) that gets about 50K unique visitors a month.

Don't ever let anyone tell you it's only the youth who are populating the internet. Some of us old-timers are deeply involved, too. BTW, much of what I have learned has been from a lot of DP's much-younger-than-I techies. So yes, you can indeed "teach an old dog new tricks"! :) Many thanks to those of you who have helped.

Ignorant, maybe. But it's just how I am. I've never been able to respect teenagers. Even when I was a teenager. The vast majority of them are aimless, and self absorbed.

The reason I get angry is probably because 99.9% of sites teens make are pointless and shit. Thus muddying the digital waters. We don't need any more 'shitty' sites out there.

As I get older, I'm starting to value age for the wisdom, patience and experience it brings. These aforementioned values are critical in business. On the other hand, however, with youth comes fresh ideas and a first hand understanding of the future of a culture.

    Nothing.

Make as much money as you can when you're at home and your parents pay for everything. When you want to move out, you'll need it: car, rent, furniture, bills etc. Its a ton of money, so unless you have some saved you'll be waiting a while (ie. nearly a year) from "I want to move out" to "yeah I finally am".

I know so many 15-16yr olds who have tons of money (or should I say, had) and piss it up against the wall on TV's, PS3's when they are released (wait 6 months and its half the price retard, not to mention most of the bugs are fixed) and when their site dies and they run out of money, they're screwed. Its about saving for what you really need. Most people will need a car (unless you live close enough to work, shops to walk), need a house, need furniture etc.... If you can have $5,000 or more saved by the time your 18, you are going to be so much ahead of everyone else its not funny. Its not that hard - if you have 2 years until you're 18, all you need to save is $7 a day and you'll have $5,000. That's enough for a car, bond money, furniture, and some left over for unexpected expenses. Even if you earn just $20 a day, put $10 into your spending account, $10 into your savings account.

The problem only starts when they join the "I'm better than everyone because I'm younger and making money" parade - then they become cocky little sh*ts everyone wants to shoot.

WOW now Logic is feeling old. My company is older (15) then some of these post writers not to mention how old I am.
Do the math here::: though wisdom can rule, with a caring heart and an open mind that is in continued advancement for knowledge, then and only then can you seek and concour the financial gains that are equally available to all that seek them.

    Logic...
