It would be very difficult to have a Joyous New Years Logo and a Link to The Relief Fund on the same homepage -- It would not have been appropriate

Possibly, Google Planned 12 - Twelve days of Christmas Logos - and cut it off at day 4 when they put the link up that evening December 28, 09:30PM

It is interesting that ASK.com is combining them both

Lycos is ignoring the Fund completely

This is probably the 2005 logo

very subtile - probably a last minute change from the normally flashy logo -
This blends in perfectly with the "mood" of the front page - does not seem out of place

Would be very interested to see what logo was ORIGINALLY Planned

Guess - no one will ever know

Also there is no hyperlink added to the logo (happy new years) - this would have competed with the relief fund - Good Job resolving the conflict

Google's founders have announced their intention to create the Google Foundation with their April 2004 "owner's manual," and now the company is in search of an executive director to head the group.

"This is going to be a key area of focus for the company in 2005

I was surprised at how rigorous the interview process was, based on that 60 Minutes piece.
