Tech Watch is born!

Discussion in 'Websites' started by I. Brian, Apr 19, 2006.

I started Tech Watch last year as a tech news site on Wordpress, but I only made a handful of posts on it as I was too busy maintaining my other sites.

Anyway, I bought two forums on DP - gizmoforums and forumcomputer - many thanks to Serg and NameWolf for smooth transactions.

I've now merged them together as one vbulletin, and added the vbseo plugin for extra search engine friendliness.

Even though the forum is technically new, there's already over 3500 posts on it, so I think there's a good platform for developing it seriously over the long-term.

I've now got to look out for a decent vb skin - something simple but effective - anyone got any suggestions about colours?

I find the blue and grey combo of colours smooth but maybe a little overdone, but for a tech forum I keep thinking of silver and grey, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, if anyone's got any suggestions about how to make the site look more appealing to join for new visitors, please feel free to make them. :)

I know blue, gray and silver seem like techy colors, but that by no stretch of the imagination means that techy people like those colors or relate them to technology. I'd be open to other colors to add a little life. Maybe Blue and green, or Blue and yellow.

BTW, nice domain you've got there.

I see it fine, and agree that the colours need something more lively.

You cold use some color in your website, try to create (or get) some icons for each cathegory or something like that, to warm it a little.
