I am not a SEO guru, but i think these tips are pretty helpful.

Give me some feedback on them please.

Well, those tips are pretty well known. I must however disagree with one of them: building a XML site map can actually hurt your website. Bots tend to index pages a certain way and if you can let them do that, natural crawability is always better, especially if your website is fairly small (less than 100 pages). If your are not satisfied with the pages indexed, I would then suggest to build a sitemap to help the bots understand which pages you want to have indexed. I have heard of cases of huge sudden drop in rankings solved by getting rid of the sitemap. If you are interested to read that story, I can probably go fish the URL for you.

 

Doesn't Google say it likes sitemaps? If it didn't, they wouldn't offer a way to submit one.

Personally, I don't agree with many of them or they are improperly explained. When the first SEO tip was to exchange links I already knew this wasn't a worth wild resource. Beware of mis-information!

I totally agree with you : I don't use sitemap for my sites. I prefer search engines index the pages they find useful.
I tested also removing google analytics, but new pages were not indexed fast (several days were necessary). I put analytics again, and by miracle new pages were indexed and visitors came in.
Conclusion : don't use sitemap, but use analytics for indexation.
(for information, the site tested is visited by 40 000 visitors a day)

I'm not sure where you got that advice from saying that XML sitemaps hurt your website. In fact not entirely correct.

RSS Feeds are made using XML. ROR files are made using XML.

If you were to create a ROR.XML site map, you will find that this is the default and most preferred method that Search Engines like. What's more, adding a ROR.XML file's code to the header tag will help improve crawlability and allow more search engines to crawl your site. The indexing process is faster too.

 

Cool tips but most of this is just on-page stuff. I would focus on how to build links in the first place since that is more important.
