Are you kidding me? Google cannot tell if a link is within a post or in the signature line.

I am looking at the source code for this thread ans it seems that the links are dofollow which means that googlebot will index your sig links. DP is crawled often and my estimated time is 3 days between posting and seeing the page indexed in Google. :)

You really think that? Lets look at the source shall we, bear in mind Google has crawled a vBulletin page probably in the trillions of times over the last seven years.

Yes, there's not that many Googlebot's on DP at any given time, they don't need to.

It is acceptable if it has to wait for 3 more days.

Hope it is can be within a week.
Or maybe still need to take chances.

That was my point about the coding.

    Every forum has it differently

My thought is similar as yours.

Yes to get a new site indexed.

I really hopping thread signatures can help and make the process shorter.

But would 3 months let the thread become de-indexed thread already.
That is I am worry about.

So do you think that Google gives less weight to the links within forum signatures as opposed to links within a thread post?
I personally do not think so. The PR for each new thread is basicly zero anyways.

I have found that Google liked my old Sig Link... It helped me rocket up to a PR3 in the first update. I have since sold that site, but it did work for me!

I would think that in a forum like this which the sole purpose of a lot of people is to artificially gain search engine advantages for their websites, that if google was to decide to adjust their algorithm that signatures here might actually turn out to do more harm than good

it is a possibility, look what google decided to do with paid links before for an example of how they might operate

Sign links don't get crawled but thread get crawled in google . And the more you have posted reply the more visibility of signature link user can catch . Thats why users buy links from top posters . I think now this is clear to you .

    still some not clear
because old threads are possible to be de-indexed and become less weight or useless for searching , aren't they?

Signature links are worth close to zero anyway for SEO and SERP's, and anyone posting here for the sake of signature links is seriously wasting their time.

However, yes links in opening posts are better because Google picks up new threads instantly via RSS. Googlebot doesn't crawl DP all that much considering the size of the forum, it doesn't need to.

There's a lot of crap posted in this thread and you're adding to it. For one thing, Google doesn't need to send out a lot of separate Googlebots to a single site and they rarely do - perhaps you're thinking of Yahoo (Slurp!)? Second, there are many vBulletin forums that get indexed quickly and well without having RSS enabled. And third, forum links do count as backlinks - and they can also generate traffic if you're not posting drivel. Have a look at http://www.google.com/search?source...=1T4DACA_en-GBUS264US264&q=link:psychlinks.ca if you doubt it.

Googlebot does not crawl DP much considering the the volume of new content, often Googlebot is not even on DP despite 100's of posts being added hourly.

I didn't say they aren't recognised as backlinks, i said they offer almost zero SERP value which they don't.

DP has a good reputation in google thats why its being indexed fast. I just don't understand your question that " why does signature is not being indexed at the same time?" I can't imagine how google indexed a signature!

If you have a VB board yourself it is much clearer what is going on , you can actually watch exactly where spiders go and what they index

yes I believe so , from the G's view, sigs are in templates , posts, threads are dynamic and new content .
