I am trying to get into meditation in order to tackle some of my daily stress. So I concentrate on my breath one spot at a time and forget about all the stress but how do I know if I am doing the right thing? When do I stop? How do I know my meditation session has been successful? All that happens at the moment is me relaxing for half hour. Is this all that's suppose to happen? You just open your eyes and feel relaxed?
You are missing the point..there are no right or wrong for meditation..and you should not expect any result. The whole point is "let it be". Don't worry about distraction or anything at all. Just concentrate, one breath at a time.. i read a few book about meditation..and they all agree that there are no good or bad way to meditate, as long as you keep your posture right, turn your attention toward yourself, you are on the right track this is the best book for beginner http://www.amazon.com/Minute-Medita...bs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1214412696&sr=8-1
Its good to know that you are doing meditation. I know some people who are very good at these things and they also teach Yoga to others so I will try to get some tips for you in a day or two. In the beginning, you should just try to concentrate on your breath and feel that you are becoming stress-free and happy. For sometime, you will just feel relaxed only for that time but slowly, you will feel a change in the way you normally work and your daily routine will become more stress-free and better. Just practice it regularly and it will work wonders for you.
I went to meditation classes with a girlfriend and had to spend 30 minutes looking at a twig and becoming one with it..... Needless to say, i went back to drink and drugs
Cylon I get sore. shafty You get different kinds of meditation. The one I'm looking to learn is pretty much just breathing and relaxing.
you got a point. plus if you're at work, jim in the next cubicle might complain about all the moaning. what about a stressball that you can squeeze? or a mini water fountain
You want to know the correct way to breath during meditation? Ok when you breath in, does your stomach go in or out? it should go in when you breath in and out when you exhale. Practice this daily and after a while you'll see your blood pressure drop and an overall sense of wellbeing. You don't have to take my word for it, just try it and you'll see.
