most of webmasters say that pr is worthless but me i m making +12K monthly from selling text links only i have one website with +10,000 of strong backlinks but nobody wants to pay even 10$ monthly for it but some of my website with less than 200 backlinks but PR 7 are sold for +70$ monthly for each spot so Google PR is Matter
I think its a laugh to be honest, just a bit of fun plus i think it motivates people to aquire more important backlinks, which obviously is not just useful for pagerank but also for search engine rankings.
Of course it plays a great role. If I search for good site (for exchanging backlinks) I look at PR first!
it's important for any webmaster because PR play a major roll in any search engine it's define Page rank so every person want high Page rank.... I am also waiting next PR update and i think my pr increased in this pr update....

PageRank can either mean the world, or not matter at all. For instance, all my traffic comes from social media. I could care less what Google ranks me. But if I were running a forum, it would be completely google-search dependent. It's kinda funny, because both sides don't see why the other feels that way.
It is the biggest tragedy in SEO world, that people are concentrating their SEO efforts on Page Rank. Page Rank does not effect your rankings in any manner. A website with Page Rank 0 could do wonders for your website as compared to a website with Page Rank 4. Take for example, if Google /Yahoo launches a new FREE directory, then I would be the first one to park my website into that directory. I am sure there are several webmasters who will think that it is something "BAD" to get a back link from PR 0 site, but I challenge you that this directory would be worth more than any other directory with Page Rank 6-7. Most of my pages are ranked in first page of google SERP although they have PR less than PR2, mostly PR0. So I don't care too much about PR.
