// 10 web designing do's and dont's by skullborg // 1- DON'T use too many images, It slows down the loading speed. 2- DON'T use too many colors, use two or three color variations only. 3- DON'T use system fonts like 'fixedsys', 'courier', it makes the page look bad. 4- DON'T use hover borderlines on images. Always keep the hover border at 0 for images. 5- Use tons of marquees. It makes the page look like kiddy. 1- Use a single color, or grades of color variation. When you use 4 or 5 different colors, it is very hard on the eyes, and looks like complete shit. 2- Avoid using chatspeak, or shortened versions of words. If U TyP LyK DiS nO 1 iS GoINg 2 WaNt tO cHeCk ur Page. 3- Put as few graphics and pictures on your page as possible. Lots of images = slower loading times. Sure they look cool, when done right, but remember, less really is better. 4- Use div boxes instead of tables, So people don't have to go way down the page to see what's written, instead, they can scroll the div boxes. 5- Use high contrast, darks on lights or lights on darks. Again, it is very hard to read something in superdark purple, on a black background. Make it lighter. if you liked my small article, please do rep me. thanks. ~skullborg.
Most of them are pretty common sense, but I disagree with the using a single colour or grades of colour. I would have put that as - use colours that compliment each other. I can happily use 4 or 5 colours on a page without it looking like complete shit. There's plenty of resources on the net that can help you find complimenting colours.
Yeah, if you use COMPLETELY different colors, lets say, 5 or 6 colors (red, purple, yellow, pink, orange, green), how would your page look? and Im not chasing after rep andymayo mate Just sharing an article I wrote for another site..
I don't understand these two? You want us to use tons of marquees? Whats your reasoning for using <div> over <table>, didn't make much sense to me. Don't get me wrong, I don't use tables for layout, it's just that I didn't understand your explanation...
Sorry I forgot to add in 'don't, DON'T USE TONS OF MARQUEES Um div boxes can be scrollable, while tables can't.. So people can read the content inside a div box nicely by scrolling, unlike a table.. Got it mate?
