Designing a WP Theme - Need reviews!

I'm designing a custom WP theme for my blog (Rauru.com). Unfortunately, I ran out of ideas and now I'm in need of some suggestions / reviews about my design.

Great match color, i think it will better if you give some icon like dig or stumbleupon for bookmark under post

I think its pretty good. I have a suggestion, down the bottom where you have the about part, recent comments and recent posts beside it would go well there i think

 

I agree with you, MoT! Thanks for your suggestion! Will keep it in mind once I resume the design.

Very good design nice color blending

 

Looks pretty good, a few things you should take a look at...

1] The header (on the right hand side) looks a bit plain and boring, maybe adding more colour to it.
2] Your navigation at the top is very small, and can easily be missed. What about having images as links, nice large ones, that will grab attention.

The header isn't finished yet That's why I'm asking for some suggestions. I'll take care of the right side of it as soon as I resume the design.

Also, the nav bar is unfinished. I was thinking of making it a tabbed menu or something. What do you guys think?

 

I think that orange color for headers and hyperlinks is too bright. I would choose something darker (brown) or some other color (have you tried darker blue or forrest green?).

I would probably remove the "glowing" effect from the header (I mean rauru.com). Also the tagline is too small and almost unreadable. Make it bigger or remove it.

Shadow effect bellow sidebar headings isn't very good. Try removing it - it might look better and more professional that way.

In horizontal menu (Home etc) - try some bigger font. Or even make the menu taller.

You might also experiment with other fonts - maybe some will look better than current (is it Tahoma now? I'm not sure).

Other than that, it's good. Nice color scheme. Interesting grunge logo

 

Nice blend of back ground colours. Ill go with risoknop; can go for some attractive fonts

Well I'm not a very experienced designer (I'm more like a skilled coder than a designer) Can you guys suggest an specific typeface? I'd really appreciate if you do!

The serif and sans serif fonts at the bottom [latest post, comments] do not look good together [consistency]. I would put a little bit of leading [line-height] between your content. You can also reduce the line lengths.

 

Looks much better now. In the footer - it needs more consistecy - either all text should be serif or sans-serif - choose one.

Also ad little bit of line spacing.

The headings in the sidebar (Blogroll, Sidebar etc) looks kinda weird, don't know why. Try making them cleaner, for example like your post titles (same font and style, just dark grey/black color).

 

looks great! you might consider using the ShareThis plugin or the AddThis.com plugin to allow for more social media sites than just Digg.

 

Sorry, but I don't really understand what you mean with "Serif / Sans Serif" about the footer. Can you guys provide a deeper feedback about it? As I previously said in this thread, I'm not a very experienced designer. Actually, this would be my third design ever so I'd really appreciate if you tell me how to make it more consistent.

About the headings in the sidebar, you're right. I'll re-work them.

 

Serif fonts are Georgia, Times New Roman etc...

Sans-serif are Tahoma, Verdana, Arial etc...
