they werent compensated. That is part of the problem. At one point i think there was some kind of deal to let arafat put a casino on palestinian own land, but the violence never let it materialize. I think this would be a great idea to revive it(imagine all the rich gulf arabs that have nothing to do with their time other then gamble and have fun going there?) . Look at the native americans. Most are rocking and rolling from these casino deals.

Imagine the palestinians there dividing up that money between the people like the native americans do here and make sure that every palestinian family living in that area getting money every month. That would wipe out hunger and desease in that territory instantly. then for the refugees in lebanon relocate them to a location in the middle east that is good for living and build casinos there also. Voila, instant peace , problem solved.

I m sure they can think about something better than gambling and casinos, maybe some Palestinians do not care about the money source as long as its money, but I m sure the majority would prefer something productive rather than a destructive casino.

 

Imad i dont know anything better at this point. If you know anything better please make it known. As far as business the palestinians i know here in southern cali are awesome business men and women. If peace were to flourish there i think these bright minds will come flocking back, but then it goes right back to the problem of right of self return.

Imad as far as casinos being destructive you have a point in a way, but i have always been a compromising pragrmatic thinker and in my lifetime and experiences i have never seen anything else that works other than pragmatism and compromise.

 

Gambling is not allowed in Islam so it would be totally counter productive to give them Casinos. How about they get the land and homes back, and the Israelis can have Casinos in Alaska or something.

Now it puts into place another question. Will this be a new state that separates religion from government or will this be an islamic state, but as far as religion is concerned there does seem to be a good sized population of palestinian christians, or did you forget about them also?

I believe it will be the state that used to be before the Israeli occupation in 1948, and in 1967, which is mentioned above.

 

Ok then, so it wont be a religious state and people can vote for either to have the casinos or not to have the casinos. I never said muslims and christians got along together but in the context of Thraxed post i thought he referred that all palestinians would be against the casinos.

first of all the state of Israel wasn't founded just because some people wanted to. throughout the entire 19 century all of the european jewish suffered from abuse and discrimination from both the government and the civilians. you're welcome to read about it.. when the french revolution occoured the jewish and jipsies (i'm not sure i'm writing this correctly) received some kind of independence but that wasn't really helpful.

that's when jewish people started to come to israel, but the pogroms didn't stop there, not even until the early ears of the 20th century.

A lot of people died during WWII. Over 20 million Russians died. Just because Jews had losses doesn't mean they can claim land as theirs and kick the people living there out.
