Where can I get a cheap SSL cert.

    EV1 (http://www.ev1servers.net/hosting/domains/index.asp) is about the cheapest we've seen for a cert that is going to be pretty well recognized by any modern browser.

    GoDaddy is the cheapest option I have found. I too used EV1Servers before I found their offering. Just be sure to read the text file you receive with the email attachment for instructions. It is a two-step installation process.

    I hate to suggest them because I absolutely loathe them, but I'm sure 1AND1 have cheap SSL's. I know they give them away with dedicated servers.

    For that you would need a wildcard cert. We sell them starting at $600/yr...

    Keep in mind that EVI sells domains/certs below their cost. They get them from the same place we do, and others do. They sell things like this as a loss leader. I'd take advantage of the low price, but keep in mind you will be submitted to the eternal pimping of other services in an attempt to make a buck off that loss leader item.

    just a quick reminder that www.sitename.com is different from sitename.com. You will have a problem when all your program or scripts uses the sitename.com while the registered is www.sitename.com ;)

    i think most of the problem are rooted there in the mis-declaration of the site that will be ssl certified

    I checked into the certificates from geotrust.com and verisign.com but couldn't bring myself to pay the big bucks. I ended up taking a chance on www.domainsandbeyond.com
    From my experience, there's no downside to the cheaper certificates. Setup was quick & easy, the price was right ($19.95) and I've had no problems so far. No customers have reported any certificate difficulties yet (6 months),
