Whats the best blogging software?

Expression Engine looked pretty powerful - great looking site too. The engine core is free but there are also pay-for versions with more features

 

I started using WP and I like it. Also there are alot of plugins for it that cost nothing and do pretty much everything you would want. I do think Exp Engine is nice, but see no reason to pay for what is free with others.

 

Drupal will let you blog and much much more.

 

For a single poster blogger site I would go with Word Press.

You might also take a look at sNews.

 

Wordpress is definitely the one I'd recommend, and I switched from Blogger to Wordpress. If you want to try before installing, head to:

Look along the left menu bar, they have links to the different CMS demos there.

There are quite a few CMS demos, including Blog software (both Wordpress and Textpattern are there). Drupal is also there, but it's under the "Portals (CMS)" category, not the "Blog" one. Each one has an admin demo so you can see the admin interface, as well as a Front Page demo in most cases.

Ya its nice, but as usual its also abused by author's own fake comments and flaming their rival cms.. sh*t

 

I just ignore that and test run the stuff myself. Then I come here for real opinions from actual users of the software.

 

I registered at wordpress.. i guess they have a redirection problem.

 

I think wordpress has the best user community for helping you get problems sorted quickly. Plus there plug-ins available to do just about anything.

My buddies with zero internet knowledge can use WP within an hour.

Wordpress all the way! It's so simple and easy to use....I just love it. And the plugins that are availabel for it are just fabulous.

Plugins are really cool for WP. But I might have installed one that was in beta or something.

I was having problems with my embedded HTML code. I don't remember exactly cause it was quite a while ago. But I seem to remember installing one of those cool rich text format plugins for entering my posts. Soon after that it crapped out and now when I post forms or other embedded code the rich text plugin tries to validate it and return it to the rich text view. When that happens it just decides to take out my code that I just entered.

So I work around it now, since I don't know why it is doing that. If anyone knows why or has any idea how to fix that please chime in. thanks.

Wordpress is by far the best software you can use for blogging

 

Textile conflicts with other Wordpress plugins. Just deactivate it. Or delete the files off the server and WP will deactivate it automatically.

Are you using version 2? If so, it's probably conflicting with the new built in HTML WYSIWYG editor. If not, time to upgrade to 2.02 - 1.5 and 2.0 have security vulnerabilities.

 

Yeah, I am running WP version 2.0. I deactivated that plugin and downloaded the latest stable version of WP (2.02). Hopefully it will work out.
