so i have been doing some SEO lately and I just wanted to see if I missed anything important i have done: - meta keywords and description - url rewrites (.php is .html now, and .php?id=3 is /3.html etc) - submitted URLs to msn, yahoo and google - robots.txt allows all engines on every page i miss anything important?
It looks like you've got a relatively tight strategy. However, without knowing more details I can only provide a short list of suggestions to help you close any gaps. Be sure to fill in a few of your keywords throughout your site's information pages. You can bold them or color them in red, especially in the body at the top of your article and in the sub-headings. You don't want to use the same title tag on all of your pages. The robots may compute all your pages are the same which would mean your pages won't get indexed. Make sure you use the headline on your pages as the title tag so the robots will know exactly what your page is about. Insert your headline into the h1 tag. This way the headline is the same as the title tag text. Be careful not to spam the description or keyword meta tag by stuffing meaningless keywords or spending too much time on this section. Meta tags are not as important these days as search engines get more intelligent. Finally, stay away from link farms. Their pitches may sound like no-brainers...and they are 100% correct. I have been doing a little research myself, titles are important. Remove Welcome and stuff like that. Try to keep the Title, header and description the same for that one page unique for each page. Write an article and submit it. Articles carry a lot of weight and also submit to directories. They don't hurt either. I've read that the reciprocal ones aren't that bad. Stumble your sites only once but after you have stumbled several others. They will return the favor. Also use the google pr checker and the Alexa plug-in your browser (we know it's not completely useful) but do it anyway to see if other users with the toolbar installed are checking your site. And blog about your site or sites. Everything helps. _______________________________ CyberQuest-"SEO"
Yes, im working on building links right now...also, each page has a different title which corresponds to the content of said page.
Yes. For SEO, your first three don't matter. The meta description tag is important for clickthroughs but not for ranking. New study: which web page elements lead to high Google rankings? 22 May 2007
And his fourth one was a waste of time also - its standard behaviour for spiders to follow and index everything, you only need to bother with them if you want them to do something different.
This is a checklist i found for beginners http://ezinearticles.com/?Do-It-Yourself-SEO---A-Beginners-Checklist&id=1114818
The title tag is important as well and don't forget increase backlink to your site as much as you can. Cheers!
Have you analyze the right keywords for your site, how competitive it is? you must analyze right keyword on your niche... That's the number one rule when optimizing... analyzing, brainstorming, etc....
i would think having keywords in the filename would give us some edge. url abc.com/keyword.html should rank better for the specific keyword than url abc.com?id=123. i understand that short URL will rank better than long url which is logical, but if an extention must be used, then it should be only wise to use the keyword in the extention
