    It's not really worth submitting to general directories, as you might only get 10 - 15 hits per month absolute maximum. Don't expect a ton of traffic from these links - however, you will need some links so the major search engines can spider you for indexing, so get a few, just don't waste time with big lists of directories, it won't pay off for you like many make out it will.

    You be better off just exchanging with related websites to yours, the link is worth more and the traffic on-target.

    I submit to most of the free list in directorycritic, the ones annnounced in solicitations and announcements, other lists posted, other lists shared, the threads are full of them, and i never reach the end. :)

    I've never bothered with submitting to any list - because as soon as a directory is shown in such lists, they'll become a member of the QBC. Very (and I mean very) few directories are worth paying for inclusion. Truth be told, my biggest 'directory' referrers are 2 pretty big UK directories which were completely free listings.

    Wallace, those are all rel="nofollow", which means it wont help with PR at all... why would i waste my time on submitting? =-/

    What are expecting from your directory submissions? traffic or link popularity (ie pagerank).

    The answers will be different for both...

    Consider many of the other threads in the forum, but I'm closing this before it becomes spammed with posts like #9. The lists are good and consider their contents - but most of us have submitted to more directories than we could ever hope to make into a meaningful list. They disappear, have their databases wiped, get sold etc more often than I could ever justify keeping tabs on!
