I had a real good sales day yesterday (Easter). I also remember that sales on Christmas day were large too. This surprises me. I figured people would be too busy with family & friends to be shopping online. Do other affiliates do well on holidays? Thanks.
I had a weird weekend for sales. An item I didn't sell more than 10 of in a year sold 24 of in the space of a few hours online. It was weird cuz everyone came in searching for almost the exact same thing - different IPs, different states. Its like the item was featured on HGTV or something.
Easter was pretty good, sales were double as high as on average AdSense earnings on the other hand were 30% down
Did yesterday just suck horribly for anyone else? I was actually starting to think something was wrong with CJ's reporting but impressions and clicks are there.... bleh. 2 sales on 248 clicks. Today's a new day I guess.
Yesterday's EPC was about 25% off, but the day before was huge... so that is understandable. Nothing out of the ordinary on this end.
Sometimes I get worse than that, it all depends on what visitors are visiting your site. The more sales a get for the little amount of clicks is very nice. This is because I have more profits and can do more advertising.
I haven't been doing affiliate sites for long, but that does seem to be a pattern. Made over $120 on Monday, then a measly $8.99 on Tuesday. Is that typical? A great day followed by a crappy day?
For the few affiliate sales that I do. I have seen that pattern. $100 one day, nothing for a day or so, then $100 again. Its weird. Affiliate sales seem to be very unstable. Dunno how people make a living off that.
It depends on the price of the products you're selling. If you only make $2 per product but you sell 100 of them per day, your sales will be much more average. If you make a typical $40 commission on a large electronics item, but you only sell 5 per day, your sales will be more rocky by the laws of averages... but it does all average out. The key is to diversify... sell small stuff, sell large stuff, sell lots of different merchants-- then you are not harmed so much by the expected fluctuations.
I agree that diversifying is a big plus. If you sell half a dozen or more different types of products you don't have many 0-dollar days.
Get even more targeted traffic then you will make more sales. That's how you can keep alive of this. Also, it may even average out your sales each day.
