.BIZ domains, are they popular?

I just picked up a .biz but I am not sure if these domains are popular. I don't think I have ever been on a .biz website (besides checking out a few).

Do any of you maintain .biz websites, are they easy to market? My site is

If you are focusing on SEO they are fine. I run a high traffic .biz and all is fine, but I do focus on SEO.

They are not overly popular so you can pick up some nice un-reged .biz domains.

Yes, .biz domains are popular if .com and .net are not available. It is a general strategy that if someone wants to setup a domain name for his/her business and .com and .net domains are not available then he/she would definitely go for .biz alternative.

Why do you think they unpopular? I would think that hey would be used a lot by businesses.

.biz is crap. they aren't used by serious businesses because nobody is going to take it seriously. .Com is the established 'king' of tlds with local exception (co.uk, de, etc). Consumers are already branded into .com with trillions of advertising dollars, .biz isn't, most people dont even know it exists. If you're SEOing and that is all you care about, it's an ok choice (only reason i ever really used .biz was back when registry there updated instantly and i could test my new sites using .biz/info right away where .com took up to 2 days to propagate). if youre trying to build a business, id take a lesser .com vs a .biz pretty much any day of the week.

I see your point but all the .biz are registered, it's only rarely that a good name is up for grabs. Plus InvestNow is a good name for any domain.

I don't see any serious sales of .Biz domains on aftermarket in past several months.
If you are going to develop your own site with perfect SEO, you may go to .biz, but it is not the time for domainers to invest on .Biz

I've been watching a significant drop of .biz domains market, personally I see them gone below .info names on the hierarchy list in terms of importance.

No, they are not popular at all. The value of these names are very limited unless you own top quality names. If you're developing, them it could suit a good business site.

Is it? guess you will probably think so of this next statement too: .biz is STILL crap.

How about you tell us why you disagree? Are you heavily invested in it? Can't find any .coms and frustrated? can't wait to hear this

I don't need to try to convince a domainer as opinionated as you anything. Actually, I prefer guys like you stay out of the .biz market. Right now, I only own about 4 of them. In fact, just rejected a 400% return offer for a domain I got for less than $100.

No, I don't think they are as good of an investment or as profitable as the .com counterpart, obviously. However, when I see a .biz for sale that I know is undervalued I will pounce on it. Get my drift Kevin?

They were temporarily slapped by Google (vanished from SERPs for a very short time) and that caused a noticable devaluation... ;)

However .biz domains are alright. They are keeping their value so I wouldn't be afraid to use them.

I would love someone to point us to a power web project concentrated around a .biz domain name...

just because one can make a profit doesn't make them not crap. .biz is a crappy extension and will stay that way for the foreseeable future.

    http://www.3character.com/2007-march.html
    3 letter biz 80$
today, slightly more than a year later.
    45$.
almost a 50% decline in value, almost every other tld has appreciated. if that's not a bad investment... bear sterns still hiring?
