I recently got a pretty good domain name (I think) for what will be a mini site dedicated to cheats for a popular 360/ps3/pc game that should be coming out soon. The domain is ***cheats.com with the stars being the name of the game. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can rank well in the search engines early before the game is released? Obviously theres not a whole lot of content I CAN add right now. I am probably taking a horrible approach at this but it's more of a little experiment than anything. I'd definitely be excited if things worked out better than expected though so any input is very much appreciated.
NICE! I've wanted to do something similar for upcoming movies, CDs etc.. but never have the time. First off, get the site up with a couple pages of quality content so that it can start getting crawled and aged - You can start building your homepage PR up so that it gets crawled frequently and work on some inner pages; maybe talk about similar games that have already been released - a few reviews, likes or dislikes etc Just start building a nice foundation with content about similar games and the consoles that will carry the new game. You can even write a page or two about the game and what you hope it will do or feature. After you get some pages, start submitting the site to quality directories, blog a little, start a reputation in some game forums and build quality content
Hi, yes it is possible to optimize your site before game or movie released. you can add news section in your website which need to be update periodically and you can optimize than page accordingly. Pm me with your exact requirement, i might be help you out
In case of new/incomplete sites, you can get links from all sites that aren't really bothered about your content. these would include -most article directories. -social bookmarking sites. -all new directories that get announced on DP.... many don't even bothered to check if the site exists or not. -even blog commenting on dofollow blogs will work. ( Good comments get approved even if they link to not-so-good sites). and you can always buy links.... For event-based SEO, I think Social Bookmarking works best. (For me SB has been very effective). However, if there is a lot of competition, you will have to use all possible strategies available. * Use all the content that you have. ( Without content, it will be difficult to rank well.) * Make a blog or add fresh content everyday. Freshness has an advantage in event-based search results. * Don't overdo it, but use your keywords at few places on your site and page titles. ======================================== These are just some ways which can get good SERPs at the time of the launch. In the long-term, it is much more important to have a quality site.
Thanks guys, I'm new to pretty much everything so this is more of a little learning experience so everything you said will really help me. I guess I better get to work on it then.
I would say this is the best approach my friend so well done there, the best thing to do is create a page or two talking about the website perhaps an "about" page ok not many people are going to want to go on this page but its mainly there for search engines. In this page add keywords obviously the game its self and other keywords surrounding the game itself. This will be indexed by Google and will help you rank highly for these keywords.
Yeah, I have a few ideas. You can start by reading the Search Engine Optimization FAQ at SitePoint and Chris Beasley's comprehensive free Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Guide.
