Even though I hate it for people who paid to be in the directory, kudos to Google if this is true.

Think about this... there is a percentage of paid Yahoo Directory submissions that are only there because the webmaster wanted a good backlink. In that case, Yahoo is making money off Google.

From an ethical or business standpoint, I don't blame Google at all... if this is true.

    LOL!
That's really funny, its somewhat comforting to know Google is penalizing the big sites and not just going after us little guys.

But the question still remains: Is that true anybody has an idea

This used to be the case, but maybe not any more. I used to be able to buy a listing in the Yahoo directory nad get an instant 1-2 PR boost, as Google considered it ana authority backlink.

I am afraid those days are gone, so will keep my $299 to do other promotion with.

BTW: you only had to pay one year to stay in the directory forever. If any of you are still paying yearly, it is time to quit!

If we can drive the Yahoo stock price down, maybe they will consider letting M$oft buy them and possibly give Google a run for their money.

Seems like the Google Directory (an XML import of DMOZ) is way out of date, so they may be relying less on DMOZ results - especially since everyone knows it is a rigged system.
