If I want to switch hosts will this be possible without losing the data.
Like if I am hosting a forum or a mailing list then will I be able to transfer the data to my new hosting account without everything?
    Just wanted to ask.
    Thank You.

Download every thing on to your computer and then upload it to the new server. You have learned how to make back-ups...right!!!!

I know that we can make back ups. Never tried it, though. You mean, I need to make backups and download it. But how do I download that and how do I upload it again?
    Thanks for replying.

The easiest way is if your using cpanel filemanager is "select all" on your data folders and files and then use the "compress" button, this will make a .zip of all your files and then all you need to do is use the download button or navigate to the file location in your browser to start downloading. If you are using mysql databases to just export the database as .zip and this will automatically start downloading. Once you have all your files just upload the .zip to your new server and use the "uncompress" button to extract all your files to your server. And if uploading mysql databases you just use the import button in phpmyadmin. Pretty simple and you wont loose any data =)
