Do you submit to bidding directories?

I see a lot of business directories announced on various directory, webmaster and seo forums. Almost all of them have casino websites on first page with bids of $1500 or so.

How many of you think the bidding directories are being operated by the casino sites? :)

Do you think it's worth submitting to bidding directories? If yes what is your criteria for saying the directory is worth submitting to?

Its cheap links at the end of the day. Whatever price you submit at. Webmaster heaven for the owner and the link chaser.

I've spent thousands submitting to them in the past.

Thanks Mikey. There are hundreds of bidding directories. How do you decide which ones are worth the time and money?

Most bidding directories I see are either dropped domains or sometimes even fake PR with redirection.

You use pretty much the same checks you would with any other kind of directory. Check for the dropped domain, content, redirects and the kinds of links they have already accepted.

I think I have one listing on one bidding directory which was one of the first sites of that type. My listing was originally free (when he first started you could get free listings) and later the bid amount was given by the site owner in return for a little editing help I provided, so no actual cash changed hands. I have no plans on adding to the bid or bidding elsewhere.

From what I've seen in the conversations around here, the casinos don't own the directories they simply take advantage of directory owners not properly crafting their TOS to deny their listings or take the listings without considering the consequences in their chase of the all-mighty dollar.

The reason the casinos and gambling sites are willing to spend so much is that very many sites will not link to them. More than a few directory owners have quickly discovered, the hard way, that PayPal does not take to sites that do business with the gambling sites and will discontinue an account from a site doing so.

My thought is that if the homepage of a bidding directory has been overwhelmed by casinos, chances are good the site will have a limited lifespan and it is not a good investment. They will have to provide a payment option other than PayPal (or do PayPal on the sly and risk being caught) and will always run a risk of being flagged a link seller by Google.

Thanks buddy. Let me check out these directories. The problem with directories (not just bidding) that they can turn into FFA linkfarm anytime :)

someone that want to remain anonymous. Hope he can maintain the same standard.

I'm done with bidding directory though, my focus now is only on general directory. Just converted szab.net to esyndicat and waiting for new design by balkanboy and after that will do the same for daredirectory.

Some of you might know that ventedoy.com is one of the first bidding directory existed but really sad to see how its turn out to be a heaven for those low moral QBC.

I just love biding directories, they are the kings of the pay for inclusion directory business. They are completely honest, the more you pay the higher you are listed, no BS about being family friendly, or being a real Internet resource etc. As a SEO tool they are completely useless, but as a way to identify the most gullible webmaster they just fantastic. I take my hat off to you all.

I cant see why not submit to a bid directory that is not belong to QBC.In fact i cant see any difference from normal directories.Especialy if you have put all the seo friendly add-ons.My bid directory have seo friendly urls,3 deep links, individual meta description and meta keywords, long description for every link enabled, have good pr spread, rank well in first page for all main keywords it have, and G is indexing all site every 2 days.So i think it is way better from many-many normal directories from all aspects.

Yeah. I never allowed them on zorg-links. That's why the homepage is made up of directories and not casino sites. I guess I could have been 10k richer if I'd have allowed them.

    HI

I do not accept casino or gambling sites in any of my directories.... but submitting your sites to bidding directories... is well worth the money as you can get many permanent one way links to your site for little money...

    Thx
    Tom
