Ive already said this half a million times. But this was said about the upgrade from 2000 to XP. ANd all the icons got moved onto start and the control panel got all fucked up. (Ofcourse you can change it all back) But still. Everyone had a good ole moan. History repeats itself i guess. Dont worry youll get used to it.
That was the case with 2000 vs. XP, 2000 was king and now everyone uses XP. The same thing will happen with Vista and XP
I signed, but i hope they can't tell that i have an unlicensed version. To get rid of xp would be a huge mistake, MS lost HDD battle, maybe time to recoup
I still after all the time Vista has been out gotten to grips with people bagging it without giving it a chance. Has anyone here actually used XP without a service pack (and also SP1)? It's a pretty terrible experience, with no WPA support out of the box being a real pain. And even with SP1 installed the messenger service is still enabled by default which means if you are directly connected to the internet you can put up with nice spam appearing right on your desktop. Now of course all of this crap can be sorted, much like Vista's few erks can be sorted.
I don't think MS would even pass a look over the petition...they are a big fish and do whatever they feel good. Anyway, just like no one cares if someone is pirating DOS these days, after XP is discontinued, it'd be the same. So then, smart people will just grab a corporate edition copy (doesn't require activation) from the net (torrents? lol), slipstream sp3, use corporate edition keyken and install on as many PCs as they like. MS won't even give a damn about what these guys are doing; cause XP's dead to them by then and would devote their time on crap like vista and windows7... Attention: Above paragraph might be unethical; don't flame for that.
I finally bit the bullet and installed Vista on the wife's machine (lucky her). The build I bought came with SP1. Amidst all the FUD surrounding vista, and the fact is looks nad feels different, the machine has been running rock solid for over a month now. Meanwhile, I have rebuilt three other machines using the purchased copy of XP, becuase they all had gotten to a level of "rot" that they were crawling. They seem snappy now, but I am wondering if I should have bit the bullet and installed Vista as well. Feel free to bash me, but the real questions is have you even given Vista a try, or are you simply parroting what you read and hear from others who have not tried it either?
The truth is I don't have enough cpu cycles, memory and resources to waste for running a computer game called vista. Unnecessary and forced hardware upgrade is a sin especially for developing and under-developed countries.
I want to save this win XP kid from dying, this is the most astonishing operating system I have ever used. I would rather kill the Vista. signed petition already and thank you very much for opening up this thread.
