You will like this technique too. http://www.exposedseo.com/2008/04/14/generating-traffic-from-youtube
SEO is key, especially if you are selling a product. Most sites get traffic from search engines. A recent study, sorry don't have link to source, but found that search engine traffic visitors are more like to complete a transaction or action, than non search engine traffic. Think of it this way. I want to buy a book online called "Catch 22". I use Google to search for the book. Because I want to buy it, I will most likely buy it from the first quality site that I trust listed in the search engine results.
Where did you hear all of that, camp185? Advertising and word of mouth are the keys. The now big sites did not get big from search engines. When selling a product, traffic from search engines are the worse because they are finicky and window shoppers looking for free stuff. Say what?! Okay, now where did you get that one? Just about all sites get just about all of their traffic from one of or a combo of the following: Word of mouth (Ask Craig Newmark about that one.), message boards (But this traffic is VERY low.), submissions, and especially advertising. What's your url?
I still can't find where I found the original article, but here is a post from Jakob Nielson. http://www.useit.com/alertbox/9709a.html Second paragraph under Marketing that Works points supports somewhat what i said.
