    I have submitted my site:

    http://www.cardspot.net/

    to many directories but don't seem to be getting much traffic from them i Know that it helps with building backlinks but i am disappointed with the lack of traffic comming from them.

    Any views?

    Directories send VERY little traffic. Most of the times the only traffic you will get is an editor verifying contents of your website.

    The directories are used to build a backlink portfolio and not for traffic (atleast nowadays).

    I wouldn't agree with that. Directories are 'still' a useful way to increase your SERPs and getting organic traffic.

    Directories = Backlinks

    Backlinks = SERP's

    Advertising+SERP's = Traffic

    @jgriff225: Don't expect your traffic to go up overnight. ( though some times it does :) ) Patience is the key in SEO.

    Featured links in a high traffic directory, or links in a niche directory should bring you better traffic than the average general free directory, IMO.

    If a decent directory sends you 10 visits a month, and you have submitted to 100 of them, thats an extra 1000 visitors each month which means 12,000 uniques yearly thanks to those directories.

    Don't complain if it only comes in trickles, it all adds up.

    Directory submission is not a simple way dear :)

    I think for good response you should also optimize your submission titles, descriptions, because i am with this fields from last three years and getting good response from directories.

    Try to put attractive title with your keywords and descriptions also unique and full with your keywords (avoid keyword stuffing).

    try to vary your titles and descriptions directory to directory for better response.

    If directories has no scope then why lots of person manage his directories carefully? :D

    to know more read this "Why manual directory submission services"

    Thanks.

    There are plenty of free directories and loads and loads of bidding and paid directory that can give you a permanent link for less than $10. I don't think they are asking for much :)

    Are the directories you submitted to free ones or is there a fee for review?

    Hey, cool list, how often do you check the links for dead links and add new links? Looked at your pricings too, confused the hell out of me :confused:

    What i find a little funny is that your site is designed to generate $ but in most cases people then want a free ride to get those $.

    If you are looking for hits, over and above seo improvements, you need to spend some $ advertising, look for high volume visitor rate sites including directories and spend a few $ placing some ads.

    Directories never send traffic or very low traffic, but directories gives you backlinks and backlinks makes your site's strong in SERPs and gives you pr.

    strong in SERPs means traffic,natural traffic, so it gives you traffic but in indirect way :D

    Yours would appear to be a site that many people would avoid. There are so many credit card scams out there right now, I would never use a site like yours. (I am not accusing here just stating opinion.) I would suspect your lack of direct traffic may be in some part due to that as well as the descriptions and link text you are using.

    You may simply be expecting too much from your submissions for them to send you direct traffic. As others have said, the results from your submissions will be more subtle and reflected in your search engine rankings.

    How much longer do we have to put up with the wonder twins (see their avatars and locations) before they get banned?

    The major benefit from most directories comes from helping your site move up in the SERPs.

    You'll find some of the directories give you some hits as well. The trick is finding directories that actually get traffic from users and search engines instead of webmasters. Most of the time it's niche directories that give you referral traffic. I like to start with high traffic directories then try to see if they show up in google for the major themes on their sites. If they do, you'll get some hits by being listed.
