http://www.google.com/search?q=search&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B3GGGL_enSG230SG230 Hahaha when I search "search" on Google, AltaVista came up top! OH MY!
It doesn't matter, it showed how confident Google is that they can let a competitor be first in their search. For us we still use Google, whatever searching the "Search" may yield.
thats the good feature of their serps , they don't modify the result to benefit themselves moreover who is going to search for the best engine from google
Why didn't you try to type "ebay" on eBay? Amazing results hidden there... You would never believe this.
I bet, there is much more people, who know the word google, but do not know what a search engine is. Besides, you do not use a search engine to look for a search engine.
I saw a pretty funny picture on Digg a while back something like, "What if Google was optimized for Google?" and it showed how cluttered the Google home page would be. I'll see if I can dig it up. EDIT: Well I found it, but I can't post links I guess.
What would be the point in them manipulating the SERPS in this example? You're on Google.com and top of the SERP is Google.com. Come to think of it, isn't 'search' a functionally redundant search term?
Here's the optimized Google parody now that I have linking privileges: http://www.meangene.com/google/design_for_google.html
fair-play? I thought that would be in Google's interest not moderate their result. Then people would simply move off to another search engine if google were to moderate its search result.
I'm sure I saw this posted somewhere else. I really don't get the point of the post. Who would search Google for the word 'search' anyhow?
