Depending on your site needs hostgator is the way to go. Just don't get your page on digg or reddit and you should be good to go. [IMG]

one not to use is STREAMLINE.NET (UK)- overpriced and their so called customer service dept have attitude problems. they promise unlimited bandwidth etc and then make up reasons to shut your site down when you use a bit extra bandwidth. :(

I strongly disagree. I don't recommend HostGator - bad experience, weak support, also they charged my credit card twice for one month.

What's the point of having a website if your hosting provider is so weak that it can't handle incoming traffic boost?

Sounds like HostGator is highly recommended in this thread. Any recommendation for hosting with .net and SQL Server support? HostGator I learned do not have these.

You may also want to try A1 Web Solutions. I had tried several different hosts at several different pricepoints, and of them all, A1 Web Solutions was by far the best bang for my buck.

I started with a a single dedicated server with them almost 5 years ago, and now have 2 quad core dedicateds and 3 "BabyVPS" with them (perfect for projects - your own private environment for $39 - you can't beat that!)

Their support is second to none, and I have trusted them to host my livelihood for the past 5 years.

Their website is in the midst of being overhauled right now, so a few links don't seem to work, but you can contact their sales and support by ICQ (306 088 434) or by phone 1-800-636-6459.

    im on asmallorange hosting.
Good so far for the past year. The plans are budgeted out so overselling would be less of a problem.

I am going to have to agree with the others that said hostgator. I have tried many and I mean many others that didn't have the complete solution and reliability of hostgator. Host unlimited websites at a very great price. Support is great. They are all around the best. Many professional marketers will tell you.

I don't like asmallorange - the second I get a little bit of traffic they shut my account down for the good of the server - I mean I never come close to using my bandwidth allowance and my sites on this account are not heavy traffic ones. And they shut down all the sites on my account - not just the one getting a little traffic. Sometimes they can't even tell me which site started to put too much strain on the server. They are horrible.
