Why doesn't DP clean up alittle?

So I was thinking that since DP's servers have so many problems keeping up with everything here on DP, why dont the mods clean up some of these useless old threads? like in general chat, there are 1,000 pages. why not delete the oldest 500 pages? thats what I do with my forum.

Oldest 500 wouldn't be an appropriate filtering, there'd be too much loss of archive.

Yeh, you would be surprised how helpful the old threats are with the search too. Saves alot of new threads being opened.

I believe old threads help bring in more traffic since they are already indexed in google and other search engines.

Deleting five hundred pages is more than cleaning up a little.

DP would like to upgrade the server rather than deleting the pages.

Deleting old threads is not the way to do anything - that only removes important information.

Server upgrade is probably the way forward.

You say you delete old posts on your forums? why? when it comes to selling the site, people want a forum with a lot of content, not deleted!

I guess the older posts are better index and lots of traffic to this forum, a fact that you can ignore.

Can Shawn has traffic and revenu ?

The majority of posts here are utter crap and deserve to be deleted anyway - just like this one.

Umm, yeah. Maybe DP could make a knowledgebase of technical posts and point all duplicate threads to that single article. That would be better.

The problem being they need to share the SQL loads between more servers.

Why delete threads unless they break the rules in some way?

More content on any forum is a good thing. More content = more backlinks = beter search engine results.

I agree, there is no reason to delete threads, although I have to admit that it would be nice to see DP squeaky clean again :)
