Yes it is, infact it's often under-used as a solid marketing strategy. What I do is contact a targeted magazine/newsletter become a member and offer a fairly heavy discount (but just for the members and nobody else) to their members. I deliberately don't offer this to the readers, as they are often more difficult to attract and sell to. This works well, but is often a financial sacrifice involved for me to get access to the user database, and this is about establishing rapport and building a relationship for future business.

But for what I gain out of it, far outweighs the outlay, and I get a huge contact database that I sell to again and again. This is NOT direct mail, it's advertising and a free plug for me in xchange for a discount rate!

THIS IS IMPORTANT: But it must be targeted for maximum renewals.

Oh dear, look how many times has it got to be explained that you will NOT make serious money from adsense, directory scripts on a budget, SEO or scams on the web.

It is incredibly difficult if not nearly impossible to take a start-up website and make even thousands. I doubt you have the knowledge to make even an average affiliate, as you are assuming so much yet lack the knowledge and money to make it happen.

You must get that amazing idea or at least ensure it's a very good idea to begin with, or any effort and money invested will be a waste. Understand?

If directories made big money, wouldn't every tom dick and harry make it? Well agreed every tom dick n harry has it. But making $$$ outta it is not easy anymore.

Gone are those days when $$$$ used to come for directories. You need to go out in the market and learn things first before making useless comments and approach.

MFA directories and websites are pretty disliked on the web by visitors. Why on earth would anyone want to add to these vermin, never mind being associated with the quick buck crew - as that's all they will ever be!

My directory is not made for adsense.

I am not qbc, just paying the bills.

I am trying to create a quality directory, first things first as I said. If you can see beyond the Adsense (you probably haven't looked) you'll find a well categorised directory with reasonable traffic for it's age and quality links inside.

thread is about directories - not adsense - even child would know there's no sense in looking for extra cash from AS on directories.

You call me arrogant, what did I somehow say your directory was awful or something - well I didn't attack you personally, but anyone who thinks adding a blog to a directory, then plonking some adsense blocks to make it unique or give the impression of quality or authortity is heading for a lot of disappointment, and is setting themselves up for a fall. Do you not hear what I'm teaching you, because if I meant you any harm I'd encourage you to develop you bad business idea so that it does fail. But I don't do that on here do I..........


I've got to ask this - Are you thick or something? because I've said on here a number of times that I own a directory and my partner's directory is in my profile, so if you bothered to check that, then you'll see I haven't lied at all. Infact hehe, I own quite a few portal sites and have done this now for many years, which means I know this game inside out, yet you insult me by saying I don't know what I'm on about, but you expect me to believe what you say eh.. You must be nuts or something

You're attacking and immature ways alone tell me everything I need to know about you, and you know what - I don't really care what you say, because at the end of the day I made it into the national press and you're directory didn't.

 

You guys need to look around. You see adsense and say MFA it is just the old directory culture. You see a paid directory with no ads, it has no listings, all the categories are empty but it has unique template, plenty of 'mods' and you say 'good directory'. Why criticise a directory just because it uses adsense?

I could count on one hand the number of Asian directory owners/submitters that aren't superficial scammers and spammers. (Yes, I expect plenty of red rep for this post - just proves my point, don't you think? (That's a rhetorical question, by the way))
