Banner Ads - The Best Place to Advertise Thru?

I am trying to get some additional targeted traffic to my site. I've considered facebook, but the click cost seems a bit too high

What is the best place to go to that could set me up with banner ads that I could pay / click for and choose my target demographics?

Banners are not at all effective - hardly anyone will bother to click on banners.

 

I know i never click on them anymore but that doesn't mean nobody else will *shrug*

I don't think that banners are not effective...What's more I suppose they're much effective than contextual ads...

 

Banner ads are effective depending on the place. The most effective place is a horizontal banner at the top of the page.

 

Putting banner ads at the end of articles usually works, which is the place where your visitors take a break.

 

Banner are effective depending what it advertise. If you advertise something useful, then you will get many clicks.

Once you have something interesting to users, then you have to concern about the location, occidental eyes read from top-left to bottom-right. So, positions near to top or left will have a better click rate than others...

 

This is a webmaster forum. The average joe will still click else I wouldn't be making money as a publisher of banners.

 

I for one, NEVER click banners.. I prefer simple NON-Jazzy text and simple advertisements. Go for something similar..
