I have purchased my hosting for my site and am currently using SMF. Due to lack of funds to purchase VB I need to find some investors or sponsors for my site in order to get enough for Vbulletin and things like giveaways for the members. Where would be the best place to find them? My site has incredible potential seeing as it targets an area of 3.5million+ people which aren't on any other site. Thus I would need to buy everything fast in order to gain the upper hand. The investment itself would need to be very big. ( I see people asking for investments of thousands of dollars for their sites ) I will not link my site due to forum rules but I will say it is a Age of Conan fansite. So could someone please help me and point me in the direction of where to go to find investors/sponsors. Cheers

Age of Conan is a MMORPG that has just been released. It had 1 million people sign up for the beta alone. Its a new revolution in Online games. Ask anybody and they will tell you the same. I've tried doing many other jobs but my main skills are in forum management,development advertising etc
AoC is a new MMORPG coming out, If he could capture the majority of insterested forum visitors he would have a very good site. The only issue is the fact that the creators of the game already have a good forum established. Maybe some other type of site? Faqs?
Write business plan and executive summary and go to a seed camp and talk to investors. But usually business starts asking family, friends and other suckers to give money for your business. Its a hard job raising funds
Write your basic business plan,explain your business strategies and try to get angel investors from business forums
You can start by using free open source forum software for eg phpbb3 which is as good as any other. You really do not need a sponsor. Once your forum is good and busy enough, you can easily earn enough to buy a VB license. There is quite a few phpbb3 to VB conversion tools around.
mentos. The site is quite new and has made around $15 which is quite good seeing as it has been up for a few days. I plan on only needing enough $$ to buy VBulletin and then seek sponsorship from gold selling sites. My site is a AOC Fansite. Providing guides,info and media on AOC. As well as a Age Of Conan guild for the forum. wisdomtool I am currently using SMF, however to get mods to work with new themes is not worth the cash because I could buy Vbulletin with that amount.
That $15 was donated from a friend and doesn't really count because it was a donation for me not the site. There is a potential for a lot of money to come in. But I just need some money to buy VB so that I can make the forum better and more attractive and exciting. As well as using a bit to advertise around.
I seconded this, you really do not need VB to make a good forum. Good members and good content is the key. If you have these, money can come by easily and you can buy all the vb license you ever need.
