Try joining at various domain related forums like Dnforum,Napepros,DiscussNames,DomainState,DomainForums,DnsScoop etc forums and gather information.
Try to read various famous, domaineer's blogs webzines.
It’s more profitable to read the daily changing trend from various ppl at various places and I hope one can get better ideas.

I too am a newbie, hence need some info too !:)

Practice makes perfect, try to learn about top registrars by visiting their websites, compare prices before buying domains, read always the fine print when noted on registrars or parking websites, visit domains-related communities, compare domainers solicitations, etc. etc.

ICANN manages the Internet's domain name system and you can learn more on domains by visiting its blog as well, http://blog.icann.org

My advice would be to read all you can about domaining before spending any money. The forums & other stuff on the net is the way to start. Places like Namepros.com, DNForum.com, DNSalePrice.com, Namebio.com, DNJournal.com, etc. should get you going for now.

All the forums discussed before are good but unfortunately i don't think that you will get your experience only from these
If you don't register and try to sell the names you will remain wondering how these people make money (or how they fail)
Domaining is like any other business but it has a lot of competition, some of the largest pockets and it's extremely difficult to make very good money just from the fresh new registered names

Make your first step to read the forums and then start register some
