Moving a VB forum to a new host--need some help! $$

    Hello fellow DP's!

I have just moved hosts from yahoo to a cpanel host without any issue, the only exception being importing my VB database and setting it up.

I have SSH to the new cpanel host, but not to yahoo. I downloaded the 14MB database and have it locally, but havent had any luck in setting up the new database. Never used SSH before etc....

I'm short on time this week, and would like to get this set up, as the forums have been down since Sunday. Anyone interested? If so send me a PM and let me know how much $$ you think is fair.

    Thanks!

if the db is too big to import via phpmyadmin then you could always chop it up and import it bit by bit.

The easiest way is definitely SSH...I'm not available right now, but if it is Saturday and you still need help, send me a PM and I'd be glad to help out.

    Good luck!

Just a follow up on the forum and the route I decided to use.

I was tired of messing around and learning the hard way, so I decided to use ForumInstallation.com, owned by ForumPosts, a member at DP.

Within 4 hours, it was completed.

Great service, very knowledgeable and highly recommended!

just-for-teens and GTAce, thanks for your imput and offer to help. If I had more patience and time, I would have taken you up on it.

You don't want to do that.

Simply upload the SQL dump file via FTP. Then on the command line you can restore the entire database with a single command. I don't remember the exact syntax but it's easy to lookup.

You are smart to get off Yahoo's servers while you still can. If your DB gets to a certain size, phpmyadmin will timeout when exporting and your only export option would have been via the command line. If Yahoo didn't allow SSH, you would have been SOL.
