Hosting unlimited websites?

    Hey guys and gals!

I now have 4 websites hosted with ukhost4u.com and I have 6 domains registered with godaddy which I will be developing shortly.

Hosting is going to start becoming pricey.

What do other people that host 10 websites do?

    Cheers

Are they busy? Get a VPS. I took the advice of some others here and I'm enjoying ServInt's speed. I only host one site on it though; the others I spread out. If your sites are not so busy as to require a VPS yet, you can get by with a shared hosting account that allows unlimited domain hosting.

You could also go for a reseller account, most allow unlimited domain but when you hit 100+ domains performance can suffer (then again if you have 100 money generating sites you can probably afford to upgrade).

I still use fasthosts reseller account, you get unlimited domains/bandwidth for £50+vat per month, just watch for their extra's as they can add up if you need databases etc but their service level has improved a lot of the last 6 years.

Also you may need to keep in mind which country you want your sites hosted if local country results matter.

servage.net allows 25 domains, as I remember, and right now I have 600GB bandwidth/month and 75GB storage. :) So far, so good. But it's not a reseller account.

EDIT: I forgot to add that it's £5.25/month.

If you are on budget you can host up to 50 domains at ResellerZoom (more info in the signature) for only 4,95$.

The first thing I'd think about is how you're going to manage the sites you have.

By default, and the way i started out, was with a reseller acct. Using Cpanel most everything becomes a buttonpress. WHM, the reseller manager which manages the cpanel accts, also has a VERY handy API via which you can script acct deployment etc depending on your needs.

If you're more interested in scope, and have the knowledge to do so, you can go for a dedicated server, tho the time required to manage (and cost of backups (ie VPS/Reseller usually includes all the whistles)) can be difficult.

    I'd suggest a reseller acct - sounds like you're growing a little.

Edit: What brooklyn71 suggests is a good idea too :)

    Try Rackforce at www.rackforce.com. Their service is excellent. They are using;

    Virtuozzo + Plesk Control Panel
    Unlimited Bandwidth + Unlimited Domain

Please check it out. I've been using their service for about 2 year without hassle. For domain registration, try the Onlinenic services at www.onlinenic.com.

I have 8 domains and I do my own hosting. I use business DSL with two static IP addresses and split the domains over two Linux servers. That is costing around USD$75 per month.

Prior to that I rented a co-location server for around USD$100 per month. Servers are still running around that price. You get a static IP address and can run as main domains as you want from there. However, you are in charge of all aspects of doing this -- from maintained nameservers to email servers and your own web server.

To ease the task, I bought a lifetime license for one copy of DirectAdmin. It works with a single IP address on a single machine, but you can have as many websites as you can cram into your computer. In my case, I like it for mail server admin. So, I have two domains and the mail server on that DirectAdmin machine. I have all the other domains on a manually configured machine.

I have been using Servage for the last 3+ months No problem with the so far. Their support team is quick in responding. Uptime is really good. They have custom made panel which is easy to navigate built in stats feature and spam protection for your domain is included. I run website that consumes bandwidth and for me Servage is the right choice with 600GB bandwidth and 75GB space with 25 domains support at a price of $7.5 is nothing.

I am happy to recommend it to you if you are new and need cheap and reliable solutions. Moreover I have coupon code that can earn you 2.5 GB FREE space if you are interested you can contact me I will provide you.

Thanks for all of your responsees guys. Much appreciated.

I am thinking of going with hostgator.com seem to have very reasonable plans. Undecided as whether to go with the reseller or not yet, we'll see.

Any scare stories from anyone using/used hostgator?

    Thanks

I don't see how you could afford to pay for a separate hosting accoutn for each of your sites. Definatly go for at least a reseller account, if not a didicated server. Sometimes dedicated servers can be around the same price as a reseller account, but I have no experiance so I couldn't tell you which one is better.

Good luck getting your hosting sorted out :)

    Because each site makes money?

I don't understand... people will pay more than $10 a month to rent one footer link on someone else's website. Instead, create your own site, host it somewhere else for $10 per month and you have unlimited link / hosted page possibilities.

Werent they dubbed "farcehosts" at one point?

I remember about 5 years ago they had a serious amount of problems with servers and downtime etc and they were bleeding customers left right and centre.

I know a few "new" web designers use them and I kind of frown when they boast they use fast hosts, but are their services really better these days?

Their reseller account looks like good value as long as you do hosting without any of the extras.

Virtual server is a good start for 10-15 sites. You can find some @ ~200$/year
