So What is the Point?

Maybe some of you can explain to me the point of spam submissions like this

    link text - yz5lkf5fxi
    url - w188683.a960803.com/227360.html - which don't even work

And some description that is utter nonsense.

I am sure that you all see them too and just wonder if there are any theories as to why they come in.

Even if it was an auto approve directory if the link don't work what is the point? And for anchor text like the above?

Any thoughts on the point of them?

Sorry humm, I usually need to see how it would benefit someone to build something like that to irritate website owners.

Just like there seems to be a new way lately of sending urls of websites via the contact form.

On the surface to me it just seems pointless as no directory owner should accept a link like that.

Could it just be some competitor  with too much time on their hands? ;)

I don't even think a competitor would stoop that low. Who has that sorta free time? I make a horrid competitor because I list others in my blog and sometimes review other directories free of charge.

    Hello....

Well we all must wonder what is going threw the mind of the person or people that submit this garbage? What is the purpose?
How does this individual have enough time to hit everyones directory daily? What does he or she get out of doing this?

We will probably never know and In the End it really dont matter as it just gets deleted ;)

    thx

I dont know maybe its just some sort of testing from somebody somewhere, it probably makes complete sense to them.

Maybe its an obsessive compulsive disorder of the extreme.

"Must send out random daily codes and links accross the internet to prevent bad things from happening"

    :) Feels safe now.

Maybe someone has genocidial thoughts and this repetitive act prevents them from carrying out despicable acts for real on mankind.

I mean maybe, just maybe that could be the reason? :)

Spammers used automated bots to do that, so to them no money is spend and if the link works fine, if it doesn't it does not harm them. I see no reason other than absolute selfishness.

    Here is my theory ...

    1. It an automated system that injects the info by using proxies as ips always change
    2. Its done for the sole purpose of annoying owners to the point that they just cant take it anymore and quit.
    3. They frequent DP and directory lists in general to update thier spam lists.

    thx

As for the purpose of doing it, I think it is only to try to drive directory owners out of the directory business. Honestly, that is the only logical reason people would want to do something like that. (Which doesn't make it right.)

I agree with Faint. I think spammers are just trying to make it harder for directory owners to sift through all of the submissions.

Dont take it too seriously guys, its just a bit of unwanted material, just delete it, unless your getting hundreds of it daily its no big deal, your not getting hundreds are you?

If you show your bothered here then you will probably get more.

Its one thing ive never been too concerned with.

Lemme tell you a few facts about spam:

    1. Spam is sent to really torture people from those who are frustrated in life and also by trojans/viruses/automated programs.
    2. Spam when sent is such cases is tracked by such softwares for approval. Once found live, then that site is manually spammed by thousands of groups.
    3. Spam can surely bring in lots of sales in vigra/pills industry.
    4. It also leads to a good growth in terms of stocks and trades.
    5. A lot of noobs do make purchases via spam.
    6. Nearly 60% people these days have sites which auto approve spam.
    7. Nearly 45% people still don't understand a spam comment.

So end of it you do see a reason why you are receiving some spam.

    - How I know all this? I have met quite a lot of hackers/spammers from Bangkok, India, Singapore, China such people have association groups all over the world and I have a good material from them which states amazing facts and also have personally spoken to them to get more info about their working. :)

    humm that makes some sense.

I can't say that it really bothers me all that much because it is just a matter of selecting all and deleting. Not that big of a big deal. I just did not see a reason the spammers were doing it.

One theory is that someone could have grabbed hold of a huge directory list and is testing a robot system to spam? The fact you've posted about it here now might be exactly what the idiots want as its telling them that whatever they are doing is working. Next time just keep it quiet, make them think it hasn't worked, that will annoy them more. ;)

I’ve seen similar random spam like that, although that’s pretty ridiculous. They are using a bot to send this spam. If in another country and keyboard characters are different, URL and Text might be getting scrambled during the process? Also, its definitely going through a proxy to alternate IP's. It’s just another filter which this spam has to go through.
