I don't think I will ever use it again. You end up trusting people, and they never seem to finish the job. Will shop in the same country from now on. WHen you consider the lost site from the build taking longer

The obvious remedy to your situation is to not pay them.

    Hi all...

I'm not sure I was looking for a free lunch, but more like a less expensive alternative that has now turned out to be a very expensive learning lesson.

    Stevenh said:
The only way to avoid some problems is to stick to escrow funding and NEVER RELEASE A DIME until your software is in hand and your satisfied with it. BUT BEWARE... GAF is going to back the provider before the buyer if a project is completed and you don't like the end results.

Yes, that was my stated conclusion, I only wish I didn't have to learn it the hard way. There's no getting past the fact that GAF's feedback is misleading to a point of being intentional. That's very unsettling to us.

If anyone is ineterested, I posted the entire deal including dated threads, contract and PMs here:

cssaglobal.netshoppers.com (-http in case nofollow isnt used here)

It's a bit of a read but if it will help service buyers from being duped into the same mess I was, then well worth a few minutes.

BTW, CSSAGlobal is now moving everything over to CSSAMedia as if a slight namechange will wipe their slate clean. Amazing, sigh...
    Cheers

Agreed. I know this has happened to me on more than one project.

But when I have add on's, NOT covered in the initial req, then I expect some addition concessions to them or a bonus. I make sure I detail anything, and everything I want in the inital request. Then when they think a projects done, I say, "is it? check original work order".

    However, I prefer RAC.

good advice. Although i'm a coder and i work on a trust basis. I understand that it can be hard to build up a rapor with the client but once you have you get plenty of business by word of mouth. That's how i work anyway.

Problem like so much in the world is greed.
I buy/ develop quite a few websites, and some are quite technically demanding.
When you have 8,000 miles between you and the going gets tough too many freelancers throw in the towel!
    On with the next punter!
    Get it on!
They don't give a monkeys ass.
The trouble is they can half do a project and we are so polite we take it, pay them, and sit there dazed before getting the project finished by a local firm.
I did 5 GAF projects yesterday and I expect 80% to go wrong
I use it like an interview now.

The entire signed contract is on the page including their company seal (meaningless), also day by day threads showing how they maneuvered me into making payments by saying they would send me my programming. It was like working with a kidnapper who wanted a pizza for a hostage.

And the endless line of open hands trying get more money was insane. They do this like a script to everyone they deal with. It's like taking candy from a baby.

    cheers

As I said, there are good off shore companies just as there are bad ones. The thing is that when the freelancer site can be exploited what will the devious programmer do? I was unfortuate enough to find a company that not only takes advantage of holes in GAF's security, but who have set their entir business up to steal from their clients. There's plenty of crumbs on the CSSGlobal trail now and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that this is one of those companies to avoid at all costs.

    cheers
