0 back link but PR 4

Hello DPears.

Since last few days there were discussion going on in dp that

website gets pr with out back link?

Yeah, i have found out one website.

which PR is 4, and still not have any back links.

I have one blog, which is now #1 in google, but .. it's not even indexed

Google is going to mad, it does not give quality website any pr and i checked this website does not have any thing in it,still has pr 4 with 0 back link. why?

 

I think it is expired domain, in the next update it'll be PR0. They sell PR6, PR5 domains with no backlinks on ebay, but after the update the PR goes to 0.

 

yeah it's strange but no one can say ? why this website has pr 4... does it fake pr or what?

as link popularity is also about to nothing for this website in google.

 

The pagerank is valid and there are very well backlinks to this domain. The domain has 46 indexed backlinks in yahoo and those all are quality backlinks, such as this one from a PR5 page:

Lol seems like all the domains he had posted on his website belongs to him !!! SPAM !!!!

 

This is interesting, a site with less back links but with good pr.

 

This site had PR..... On last PR update google just remove all of its back links..

Then you can see .. it will go to sandbox on next PR Update...

You should not get surprised on it coz Pr is based on many things. It highly depend on page quality like ads, outgoing links. Me too had a PR3 site without any backlink .. even i have.
Google is treating this site a directory as you can see many links are on site in many categories like proxy, ringtone, and current affair like 'Benazir Bhutto Assassinated' that's why PR algorithm is treating this page valuable. Check there is no ads at all and blogroll links are also relevant content of pages. Google is tending more on in page content rather than other things.

as example it got a backlink from this page http://publish.uwo.ca/~harshman/ and other pages either so link:sitename isnt working good anymore

Actinoco is right, link:site.com is never a good way to find a site's backlinks. It never, ever shows all of a site's backlinks (and in this case...none haha).

 

Yahoo shows more backlinks, not sure why but its weird.

 

First of all, google backlinks are the only backlinks that count towards a domains google pr value, and yes, the 'link' command is an effective way to see a domains google backlinks.

Google sometimes 'resets' a domains google backlinks when a domain expires, or 'drops'. But because google backlinks, and google pr are updated seperatly, sometimes more than a month apart, the pr value may not reflect the google backlinks.

In this case, the pr value actually reflects the google backlinks from before the backlinks were reset. When the google pr value is next updated (expected at the end of the month), it should refelect the new google backlinks.
