Starting my blog From scratch -- $1000 Goal

Hi Everyone,

I am regular visitor of DP from last one year and always been a fan of information i found here. it's been almost 15 years since i am interacting with computers and internet from its early days (NETSCAPE ERA). In past i worked with many companies in india as a web programmer and developed many websites for them.

Now for the first time, i am ready to setup my own blog, ofcourse the ultimate goal is to earn money, but that's not what i am looking in first two months.

Here are some of the points i have made for myself:


Type : Blog

Host: Blogger.com

Template: currently coding my custom 3 column liquid layout for maximum control

domain: custom domain pointed on blogger

Email services: Google Apps

File Hosting Services: Google Pages and Rapidshare

A little bit of Ajax and very less use of images in the template to avoid loading time delay

Current PR: thats a joke as of now

current visitor stats: 0

RSS: using feedburner

Ads: Google Adsense, Adbrite, YPN, and few others (depands on their performance)

Social Bookmarking: AddThis widget

I have also decided to set some goals for my self, here they are:

Estimated Unique Visitors: 500 per day (After 1st month)

PR: minimum of 3 after second month

Earnings : $1000 at the end of 3rd month and same of the forthcoming months

I am launching this blog on 10th june, so wish me luck and i will share all my methods and tricks and template here on DP. by the time you guys can see one of my experimental blog at

This is my testing with blogger and its capaibilites, i have not earned much on this, because that was not the area of focus that time, but still i have managed to earn $147 in a month time without much effort using google adsense.

Let's start this journey once again.

Hey Amit, if you want to take blogging seriously and earn good money from it then I suggest getting your own domain and host.

 

Well i am using my own domain, and pointing it to blogger using custom domain feature, the reason i am choosing blogger as a hosting platform, beaucse its free and has no bandwidth limit as per my knowledge

Well if you are giving warez links(Some Times RS links too) then Woking on Blogger might be Risky biz, Blogger may delete your blog any time. 500 UV is not that hard !! Daily posting will make more than 500.
Else I suggest go for Wordpress you will get lots more Feature. (RSS feed promotion(Wordpress) is better than Blogger). $1000 goal is pretty big For new blog. Adsense and other Advertisement won't make that much with Tech.

 

Thanks buddy for the tip, anways i am not going to post any illegal or warez or anything such sort of on my blog. The target audience is everyone and it will cover a very broad range of topics.

no gimmicks, no tricks, just content, as all wise man says CONTENT IS KING

One more thing i forget to add, The template i am coding will contain many many hacks for the blogger available as of now on the internet (thanks to their developers).

and last but not the least, i am trying to build a layout like YUI tabs for the home page of the blog, m just hoping that i will be able to do all this

 

I have to agree with the earlier post about getting your own hosting. I seems like you are going to alot of trouble to make Blogger.com fit your needs. I mean why hack blogger.com when your own Wordpress site would let you do even more with no trouble?

If you plan on making thousands of dollars, less than a hundred for a year of hosting does not seem like a strain.

I don't think you would have a problem with bandwidth.

I am also agree on this somewhat, but one personal reason, since last 15 years or so, i am working on microsoft technologies, and because wordpress is based on PHP, i am seriously avoiding learning PHP to suit my needs.

 

It seems to me that you are more focused on getting hits and making money rather than providing good content. Your initial post mentioned nothing about content - which should be the most important thing!!

Without quality content, you won't get any traffic.

 

Well i am just starting here on DP, nd not even launched the blog, so just dont worry it will only content based, you can see if i just looking for its i will pasting the URL of forthcoming blog, but because its still on my drawing table, so i am nt doin it.

I t will be a content based blog and only a content based blog.

 

Here is a sample screenshot of my template, pretty simple i think and fast loading.

 

Just remember to make daily posts. I'm pretty sure you can earn 1k a month if you can maintain the quality of your content on your new site.

its about swapping page title with the post title on post pages
