I have applied for YPN , almost month back , last week I got reply from Yahoo that still YPN is beta , and told to have my U.S Social Security and TAX ID for quick approval, now my question is I am living in India , how to get U.S Social Security and TAX ID number pls help.
there is no way for you to get one if you are not live in US (given you are not green card holder). You can just forget about the applicaiton since there is "no way" for you to get a SSN. Or if you have a friend in US, you could ask for help
Since he is not a U.S. citizen the time and headache of doing this may not be worth it. It takes time to for the paperwork to be done. So yes it is possible, but you need to check with this page to get the process going http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/article/0,,id=98350,00.html On there is an application link. For foreign entities the process takes longer than for U.S. citizens. Essentially you are not applying for a SSN, but an Employer Identification Number and then you will have to incorporate in one of the states here. Like I said this process takes a while when you are overseas. Not to discourage you, but you need to be aware of this. So by the time you are done it may be open for enrollment allready. As for a Social Security number. Well you are not going to be able to do that without being a citizen here. Good luck.
This is the honest truth, getting US paperwork done while overseas is a hassle. I know from trying tog et my wife (who has a green card) a SSN while we were in Korea. After many hours of frustration we flew to America and did it the easy way. Cost a few bucks though...
Depending on your location, the immigration papers can take up to 2 years to process also. Just wait until they go global with YPN
No it simply means that there is a way for people in other countries to join, but the process is so long to do this that you would be able to join the YPN program when it comes out of beta before you could get the paper work done to get your EIN number from the U.S. Government.
Actually you are wrong. If he owns a U.S. based business that operates sites here and has an U.S. EIN than yes he can join and they will accept him. The problem that will make it hard for him is if he does not allready own a U.S. Business and an EIN then it will take him more time to get this then it would to wait for it to come out of beta. This is because of the amount of paperwork required to get this done can take months and in some extreme cases well over a year or more.
YPN is now meant for US citizens only.. Thats why this requirement.. I think its difficult for we Indians at the moment to get it..
You dont have to wait. You can use a service like http://www2.valisinternational.com/ to open a business in the US, and a bank account. The process according to them takes around 3 days. They will open an LLC in Delaware for you. I'm thinking of doing the same in the following weeks. I you go this route let me know how it goes for you.
Ahh Panama. I loved it when I was there. One of my favorite countries ever. Let us all know how this goes for you btw.
The easiest way to get a SS# is to be born here. That's how I did it. It was kind of messy, and I cried a lot, but it was worth it.
A friend of mine, who got registered a LLC in Delaware successfully using some online service, but all their promises regarding opening a bank acc failed. After few weeks of waiting and repeated comunication, finally the online service told him to fly to US to complete the bank process, which he can't. He lost over 1k in the process. Now his LLC is of no use to him as he can't transact any money with it.
Yes, I think Panama is a good place to live . I will let you all know how it goes. eWESTPost, Do you know which company was your friend using?
