Someone once told me if I run a celebrity / music / tech or may be a gaming blog...all of them on one single adsense account...it can always effect my ctr..because celeb/gaming blogs are low paying...so like if i have 20 sites...all mixed up ... should it make a difference?

Your overall ctr will obviously go down but the cpm and ctr of the high paying sites will not be affected.

How could running lots of niches affect your overall click through rate?

Thats dependant on your visitors, your sites, the layout, the positioning.

Of course if you have tons of traffic and your targetting niches that have poor click through rate that it will show overall, but this is not dependant on the number you run some how doing anything other than the obvious.

everything depends on positioning . if you don't have good positions on right places you will not earn single penny . Always do consult other webmasters to know for a review and tips on your ads placements, this things works great .

In my opinion, you should select high paying keyword. Not mean credit card, loan but keyword that expensive than game :D

Its almost certain that entertainment (gaming) sites are in really low "niche pay" category (Everyone with "hundred" bucks can buy good game script with tons of games and start site with almost no knowledge).
Celebrity sites could be a good shot but they require constant updating (news, happenings...)

There is no rule that if you have few low niches sites together with some high ones on same account that will affect you in overall.
