I will be launching a new software product in less than a month. The anti-cracking protection I'm using requires the user to download a file to their PC, run it, and then send the file it creates back to me via email. I must then run this machine specific file through one of my applications which will produce another file, which must then be sent to the customer through email. It's a lengthy process, but it'll be easier to code the software from the ground up than crack it. Right now, I'm going to have to process all these orders by myself, which obviously means that it'll take up to 6 hours for the majority of cases, but up to 24 hours to be safe. I'm wondering if such a task could be trusted with an Outsourcing company? It's a big part of the transaction and I really don't want them to screw it up. If I do outsource, I could have all orders processed within minutes and promise that they're processed within an hour. Anyone else had a similar kind of job for outsourcing? Did they screw it up?
I know this isn't exactly on topic, but it sounds like an awfully complicated procedure for customers to go through. Are you sure customers are willing to go through all that for your product? Some may feel you are treating them as criminals from the get go. I know piracy is a concern, but I think too much focus has been made on it -- it's my opinion that a good product will continue to sell to honest customers regardless of whether it is pirated or not. One way to help alleviate piracy concerns would be to offer special support only to bona fide customers, etc. Perhaps a special members only area that only they can access, etc. Ray
