The latest news are not that new because this has been discussed for months and XP will not be longer available as default OS on new high-tech computers and laptops, but in low-profile machines for the time being. Besides who cares, there are people who still surf the web using MS-Dos, Windows 3.1, Windows 95/98/98SE/ME/Y2K and so on thanks to devoted communities keeping unofficial updates. XP for actual users will follow the same pathway, so no need to upgrade to annoying Vista... in fact I had to downgrade my computer after my new laptop came with that lame.
Well, XP is 7 years old, time to move on. New computers work even better with Vista than with XP (I'm talking about quad-core processors, 4 or more GB of RAM and so on)
xp i always better than vista in regard to the memory and performances factors efficiency......just the outward look cant support vista all the time and vista has just the glowing appearances
Vista sucks. Dell would not "UPGRADE" me to XP and said that the machine only comes with VISTA. If APPLE sold the OS by itself I would buy it in a heartbeat. I have tried it a few times and it ran like a champ. I used to use Linux but software developers don't write the programs that I need for Linux. All of my servers run that and FreeBSD though. I can't stand Windows Servers.. YUCK!
Ok here is my opinion, XP will hit an end-of-life. after vista will make sp patch , remember the past days when xp came to us with windows 98, so same story here, you will be enjoy after they will create new sp patch for vista
I'll admit I wasn't a huge fan of XP when it came out and it took me a long while to warm to it. Since SP2 it's stable enough though, just as long as you knock off all the crap. You can't really do that with Vista though, because there's nothing there BUT crap. It belongs on the list with Chernobyl, Nevil Chamberlain and Cherry Coke. I'm sticking with XP in the hope that Vista turns out to be another Win Me situation and MS finally ditch the bloody thing. (Which seems to be what ppl are saying here) Though tbh, after Vista, I don't hold out much hope for future Windows OSs and I'm seriously considering getting a Mac.
In my opinion Vista isnt that bad. Its stable enough for gaming. Lol thats basically what i care about.
XP is far more stable than any other previous MS release and much more pc & software friendly and has less bugs than Vista. It took me just moments to realize this as one of the beta testers of Vista. A huge downfall about Microsoft's "end of life" announcement for XP is that XP will follow the same path as all of the other versions before it (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/support/endofsupport.mspx) and no longer receive important security updates which are crucial for XP users as hackers and malware/spyware entities continue to develop ways to circumvent and intrude on XP users leaving a large population of XP users who do not want too or cannot migrate to Vista at risk. This is yet another poor decision on MS' part and has come under great scrutiny. It is sad that they are ignoring the outcry and safety of the most important part of it's industry and business - it's customers.
